Style over substance at a high cost
If you somehow need a x299 platform but in mATX low-profile case (e.g. a server) this is a reasonable choice. It does work well with an i9 7900X and has many overclocking options though lacking compared to the competition.Note EVGA boards do not have TPM and thus no BitLocker support - Intel's firmware-based PTT is disabled and no discrete socket is present. You'd think such a high-end board in 2018 would have some security - think again. Note this may well be in violation of Microsoft's Windows 10 logo guidelines by not providing any TPM support.Only 3 fans support temperature-controlled PWM - the rest of the fan connectors can only run a fixed duty-cycle. So what is their point? Could EVGA not afford a EC with more fan controlled options? While the BIOS has many overclocking options for both CPU and Memory - it lacks many general options that competition provides, e.g. power states, PCIe power management and so on. The menu(s) need to be greatly expanded to match functionality and the UI need to be updated for the 21st century. If you only care about overclocking and setting records - then this is 5-star. If you actually want to use it on a day-to-day basis then I'd choose something else it will drive you mad.
