Review: Jaw dropping: the sumptuous embassy in Paris, the ... - Jaw dropping: the sumptuous embassy in Paris, the exquisite embassy in Tunis, dreamy Tehran, dazzling Brasilia, supreme Washington, overwhelming Moscow...twenty six palaces never before shown, except to lucky visitors. An astonishing picture book. But the most extraordinary part is the text. Never before has there been a gazetteer spelling out Britain's relationships on a country-by-country basis: the history of Britain's relationship with Thailand, Egypt, Uruguay. Britain's love-in with Kuwait. The strange history of outreach in Prague...pacy in its narrative, incisive in its judgement, novel in its perspectives, golden in its anecdotes, magisterial in its sweep: and full of insights and never previously published nuggets. Rangoon to Rome, Athens to Ankara to Addis Ababa, it's a sensation. And with the international status of Britain set to change, what book could bring more significant, necessary and timely insights? Review: Excellent book - Brilliant book stunning pictures and fascinating histories both of the embassies and what took place in them. Highlynrecommend

Great history lessons here.
To be picked up and read whenever the mood takes, each chapter takes 10-20 minutes. Great history lessons here. Superbly written, and great accompanying photoplates.

Beautiful book about the UK's fabulous embassies around the world
Beautiful book about the UK's fabulous embassies around the world. Why Boris spends any time at all in London in Canonbury is a mystery. Someone should organise official embassy tours; before they have all been sold off.
