American Power Pull 3300 lbs Rope Puller 3/4-Ton 20' Tensile Rope Strength (18400)

This is my first Massdam type of come along. I've always had wire ropes (cable), types in the past. I had a need for one that wasn't limited to the length of cable wound up on the spool, more than 12' and this fills that spot. You can virtually pull any distance as long as you have a rope long enough to get there. My only problem with this is it has a "square" shaped lead-in for a round rope and it has sharp edges on it. It is hard on the rope! I made a new lead-in out of round bar stock today, but I haven't had a chance to use it yet so I can't say weather or not that fix the wear on the rope issue yet. It was a pain in the a$$ to make too, when it should have come that way.

This is a bit lower cost than the Maasdam equivalent puller, but seems to have all the same features as far as I can tell. Arborist videos explain the Maasdam has "unique capability" to de-tension rope one click at a time, but this unit also appears designed to do that as well. Main design difference seems to be a stepped-down width on the Maasdam (flat sided on this product) for the plated box that captures and directs the free end rope. Hard to imagine a big advantage for either design.All this is my untested and inexperienced opinion, of course, but this is a beefy unit which I'm pretty confident will meet my needs.

I have had cable "Come Alongs" before and always had problems with them. I bought this Rope one for the first time at the recommendation of a very experience friend and used it right away in a logging project and so far it works like a charm and much more easy than dealing with a fraying and twisting cable. My friend's recommendation is right.

No real complaints here. It worked well. While it came with a good length of rope, I am going to buy a longer piece just for my needs. But when I have done so far, it worked well. It did take me a short while to figure out how to flip the levers in the right position to get it to release and tighten, but I blame that on slow brain.

FedEx fumbled claiming delivery date and time that did not happen. Seller responded immediately and appropriately and I eventually received my order hanging out of a soaked and shredded carton that held an intact plastic bag containing my purchase.

Great winch for pulling trees where you want them to fall. Quality is good, has warranty etc. Company said American made but winch doesn't say. Seemed odd. Still glad I got it and price was right.

Couldn't do simple pull jobs fell apart when i tried to pull an object off a trailer, the rope is super cheap it stretched too much had to keep re positioning the puller

Works as well as the units costing twice the price,and made just as good!
