The deck that people who loved Caroline's books have been waiting for. These cards are designed to help people to obtain greater insights into the Archetypes that are most active in our psyches. Archetypes are the ancient patterns of behaviour that are embedded in what Carl Jung described as the "collective unconscious". Caroline Myss has developed these archetypes and created 80 cards, that are individually designed to provide the basic Light and Shadow attributes of each archetype. The deck comes with an instruction booklet and can be used by itself, or in conjunction with 'Sacred Contracts'. In all honesty I think they are best used in conjunction with the Sacred Contracts book by Caroline Myss. They helped me fine tune which were my 12 Archetypes i.e. the 12 psychological patterns which run in my life. Although you have a lot of cards here (72 + 6 blank if you feel you need to make a different one) I found it easier to work through each card reading the positive and negative aspects of the characters to see if they resonated with me rather than reading through the section of the book that covered this process. By having cards you can reduce by instinct and deep thought the 72 down until you have the 12 that resonate most with you. Used thoughtfully this process will take time. Once you have worked them in can help you achieve greater insights into your life. To me this process is not for the faint hearted and it takes a lot of thought to recognise the true patterns you run. I was lucky in that I was introduced to the concept of Archetypes in a safe group setting where with good guidance and lots of discussion we were all individually able to see what patterns we were running however ultimately the answers will come from within. There is a 105 page booklet with the cards which do give instruction on how to use them without the book and more guidance of each archetype than the cards themselves. Personally if the idea of archetypes is new to you then get the book as well. Highly recommended if you want to know why you keep following the same patterns - with the wisdom of your new found knowledge from the book and cards you will understand your life and deal with things in a new way. They are beautifully printed with a glossy surface so will last well.

A nice set of cards
A great introduction for understanding the basics of Archetypes. Very satisfied. I've bought the book as suggested by others comments about accompanying the pack. I agree that the book will definitely help in going deeper into the subject of the cards

Very useful tool
The quickest way to access and work with archetpes, if you already know and understand this concept and you don’t need more information, or you already have the books on it. I think the cards must accompany one of her books, as the information in the lwb is very brief and doesnt go into any detail. The cards are not particularly attractive or pretty by today’s standard- we are spoiled by so many decks with beautiful lush artwork, so they are not inspiring, and they are stiff and not easy to shuffle, but the archetypes are a brilliant way to reveal the essence of a situation or person that is playing out and each card has a positive and a negative aspect. There is sufficient choice in the deck, and there are lots of uses for it, it is much more useful than many oracle decks that just have 40 or so cards. You could also create many games and group activities with this deck.

Very helpful when exploring our view of the self
I got these cards as I do a lot of work on personal development and these are helpful in connecting to both the positive and more shadowy aspects of ourselves in a safe and comfortable way.

Wow!
I love this deck and the amount of cards you get is beyond me! The artwork and writing on the archetype cards is easy to understand - I do recommended reading her book to get an added understanding. There were brilliant and easy to connect with on an intuitive level

Versatile cards, great for experienced therapists
I love these cards. I am a Dramatherapist and I use them a lot in my therapy sessions. I would say they are for adult use only as they tend to be quite complex and the language used is very adult. The only thing I would change would be to have the light and shadow attributes on the other side of the card and a larger image on the front, so people can work with just the title and image to begin with and then explore more deeply once they have selected themm

Ik was nieuwsgierig naar deze kaartenset. Ik heb het wel bekeken maar nog niet gebruikt in een van mijn verhalen. Wie weet gaat dat nog gebeuren.
