Skinny - Weekend - CD

Set aside 90 mins or so and immerse yourself fully
Hadn't listened to this in over a decade. Have stayed up til stupid o'clock, entranced, electrified, almost overwhelmed. This album encapsulates what a weekend was like in the late 90s. It also reminds me of someone who introduced me to the album. Sit, down, chill out, put your headphones on and absorb the entire album in one go. Some tracks stand alone but for the best experience just go with the flow. Wish i knew where 'skinny' are now because I just feel as if they know exactly how my brain works and their music just slots into my synapses perfectly.

Contains 2 of my Top Ten songs of all time....
"Morning Light" has appeared on several compilations, including the Ibizia series, for it's mournful lyrics, whispered vocals and hypnotic song structure. "Failure" is a Tony Bennet sound-alike song that pairs an uplifting melody with, yet again, heartbreaking lyrics. The rest of the cd spins a bleakish, wasted-weekend malaise that I've never heard duplicated elsewhere. A must have for those who love their Trip-Hop cds played end-to-end in chronological order, so that the songs tell a story, adding up to a mood greater than the sum of their parts.A masterpiece.

"Failure" is a really good cut, but the album is often disjointed
"Taller" fixed the flaws in this album, which tends to ramble & disintegrate into experimental noise at times. "The Weekend" is not awful, mind you, just not all that good.
