I bought this external CD drive in order to install some speech-to-text software I bought ages ago but was never able to use because my laptop with a disc-drive broke down before I could install it and my new laptop doesn't have a CD drive. As it turns out, the software is now somewhat obsolete, so I uninstalled it again immediately, but the drive works really well and is very easy to use. The only really downside is that the USB-C cable is incredibly short, which makes it a little inconvenient because of how and where I use my laptop, but this has obviously been done to facilitate the unit's portability, so I understand the reasoning behind it. The bonus is that I have quite a few PC games on discs which I haven't been able to play for ages, but now I can install these on my new laptop. It also has ports for SD cards, which is useful. All in all, a decent piece of kit at a reasonable price.

Easy to use, just plug and play really. Looks good, durable, exactly as needed. The cable that came with it was quite short, as used as an external, wouldn't be ideal for those who would need to plus it in the back of somewhere, but since my USB ports are on top of my computer tower, it's handy not to have a really long cable hanging about.

As with many an electronic product manufactured abroad, the instructions are rather vague and slightly ambiguous. Took me a little while of head scratching to get it going, when I did of course, I realised it was not so difficult at all and the DVD R/RW worked very well. Would recommend both the seller and the product. Thank you.

New windows desktop came minus a cd drive, so took a punt on the Labtec CD/DVD Drive and have been really impressed. Has far exceeded what I expected for the price. Has a combined USB A and C lead, that tucks into the back of the body of CD/DVD, plus a separate loose USB lead to provide power, although I initially used the CD/DVD without connecting the separate lead to a USB power supply. It also has two USB sockets in the rear of the body, as well as an memory card inputs, so also handy to use with my laptop as a versatile USB hub and CD/DVD drive. Brilliant value.

Even if you safe remove drive from your PC/laptop, this device will turn of computer straight away no warning or even Carry out the normal shouting down process. When PC/laptop is already switched on and running,then plug in this drive happens also. And after when working for writing either a dvd or CDR, after a few discs have been written, suddenly decides it doesn't want to do its job for further. Then if left still plugged in computer and restarted it decides to do the job it's supposed to. Really would not recommend buying this device.

I mean, these things are all the same, right? Made in china, it’s tech, reasonably priced. So this one here came, thanks Amazon, real fast, small parcel, thankfully not over packaged, and I hooked it up to the apple laptop, yup, works. DVD watching commenced, the disc stopped a few times, must be the dvd, watched another dvd, fine. Hooked it up to the dell laptop, yes, dvd watching continued, no hiccups. Got bored with watching stuff and went to bed. Next day, taken out camera’s memory card, slot in, hook up to laptop: yay, easy photo transfer, exactly what I was hoping for. Feeling happy with purchase. C: Update: Today I’ve tried the drive with music CD’s, it plays, super. And on demand ripped very fast and silently. Nice. :) (It plays the cd while I am looking through the memory card) To be continued… Today I’ve plugged an old hard drive in which it read without problems, then I added a second hard drive and copied stuff over, everything works just fine. I’ll update for writing to disc. I guess all that remains is the longevity- to which I can’t say anything yet obviously. So all in all I am pleased with this hub/dvd player and re-write. All is well.

Awkward, drawer needs manually easing out, incredibly slow to read a CD music track even when working properly and power cable attached. Not recognizing some (bought) CDs. Unsatisfactory connections for a desktop PC. Have to try and create somewhere nearby, high enough, level and reasonably accessible when attached to any USB port. Have had to order a USB extension. Even so, shan't be able to use it for the purpose I bought it for - transferring music CDs to a memory stick to play in my car or elsewhere, or burning individual CD tracks into new compilations. Very disappointing.

I ordered VERY late in the evening. The package was there the next day. This external CD/DVD player works easily with simple plug & play with Windows 11. I took me five minutes to realise it read my old burnt DVDs without any problem (which I hadn't been able to read with my old, knackered external CD/DVD player). It took another 10 minutes to burn my first disc with superb results. The experience couldn't have been better.

Fonctionne très bien avec mon ordinateur portable. On verra avec le temps et l'utilisation. Rien à signaler, semble être un bon produit.

Le lecteur cd DVD fonctionne parfaitement bien c'est magnifique je peux regarder ma série stargate sg1 sans problème
