The Complete Book of Animals, Grades 1-3

Kids will learn a little about many different kinds of animals in this book. Things like where the animal lives, what it eats, and its young. They will not learn many details about each animal, but it can be a fun jumping off point and you can always do a bit more research on the animals that interest your child/children. For most animals there is 2-3 paragraphs of reading, followed by about 3 questions for your child to answer. They have "minibooks" and activities (dot to dot, coloring sheets, etc) sprinkled throughout the book. I do appreciate how the book is divided up--the animals are split into categories based on the continent where they live. There are also a few other categories, such as insects and ocean animals. Being split by continents makes it perfect to tie in with geography lessons--we are using the book this year with Exploring Countries and Cultures and it fits perfectly.

These books are great!! I use them in my homeschool and the boys love the brightly colored pages!! They love working in these workbooks!

The book camed unwritten in, but it looked like it has spent weeks in a child's backpack. The cover and spin has ripped and the pages are curled or folded in. I was not under the impression that I was buying a used item!

I am currently using this book for 4 different children (ages 3-10 years) and they all love it! I love how I can use it for all of them at once. This book is informative, fun, and varied enough to keep our interest. I don't have to prepare ahead of time to teach out of this (which I love) but we can go deeper if we want to. They reccomend 1-3 grades but, like I said, my 3, 4, 8, and 10 year old really enjoy it!

My son loves this book and not only is he learning about different animals, but it's teaching reading comprehension and introduces him to go back into the text to find the answers. Great book. I'll be purchasing one for my younger son when he gets old enough.

Great book for children interested in learning about animals all over the world! Simple activity pages, coloring pages, short pull out stories & and a couple easy to answer questions per animal!

I purchased this for my son to use in his homeschool studies. It is a nice book, but most of the pages are just a reading with questions to answer about the reading. There are a few games and pull out books throughout, but overall lacks creativity. The stickers aren't of animals and do not seem to correspond to any of the lessons. I am disappointed and won't purchase one of these books for my son again. However, if you are looking for that type of resource, this should work well!

My second grade son has really enjoyed this book. I find him reading the animal sections, completing the activities and sharing with me what he has learned without me even asking him to do the work.

This has been such a blessing to our homeschool family! My daughter has always been ahead, but struggled with reading comprehension. These very short simple readings with questions right afterwards, have helped her learn to pay attention when I am reading, and to listen for key facts. We choose to watch short YouTube videos for each animal as we do it. It is making science easy and fun for my little first grader
