Huge Upgrade
I absolutely love this thing. Sure during more complex operations in the advanced notebook, it can take a second. Getting used to the stylus takes time, but the build quality, the feeling of the materials, the lightness, I absolutely love using this thing. I have been part of the Kobo ecosystem for a few years, so all of my books besides a couple are on Kobo. Because of this, setup took about 3 minutes. It's not necessarily a great budget e-reader, it's fairly expensive, but in comparison to other e-reader/note taking e-ink devices, it's a good deal to me. My unit did come with a small defect in the surface of the screen, but I anticipate using this thing and getting it fairly banged up for a long time, so whatever. I absolutely love sitting down and just reading on this device. I have made notebooks and folders etc for my business classes to help me have quick and easy to review notes on accounting specifics, then I can throw my headphones on and sit and read Andy Weir books and get lost in the stories. Pure love for this thing.

Best large e reader available
First off, I’m well aware this is marketed as a note taking device, and it does that just fine. However my primary use is using it as a large screen e reader. The screen brightness and yellow light settings are marvelous, I only have it at 45% brightness and that’s plenty. The large screen estate fits more than your standard 6-7” e readers and I love it! I know Amazon has their own but I ultimately chose kobo because of the customization options for the fonts. I don’t like how limited the Amazon one was and this has opened up so many other font options as well as like thickness, like spacing, etc. The battery life is a dream, given something this large it well sufficient. Got it out of the box on full battery, read for a whole day nonstop and it only went down to 90 by the 3rd day in the afternoon. Truly the dream e reader. I only wish it had page turn buttons.

Don't waste your money on Kobo!!!!
What a huge disappointment!!! Kindle Fire as an e-reader and tablet puts Kobo to shame. The Kobo is black and white only (even for library offerings), archaic software, very limited in use and they charge you $60 when you return it. We had to get Amazon involved to even get the partial refund less $60. The Kindle Fire is so much cheaper, better, faster and so versatile as an e-reader but so much more (streaming, connecting with Alexa, amazon shopping, watching prime video, etc). Used as an e-reader it allows as many different libraries as you want. Library offerings are in color. It quickly shifts between portrait/landscape when reading and has tons of useable apps as well, pre-loaded. For great value for your money, ease of use and being able to do so much more than I will ever need, Kindle Fire is the way to go! Avoid Kobo.

Perfect Screen and font size
Don’t get me wrong: I LOVEmy Kindle Scribe! However, I’ve used it three times since I have had my Kobo Elipsa 2e. I love that it is lighter than my Kindle Scribe. I enjoy being able to purchase books ($1 more than Kindle) and love how I can set up my reading preferences, locking it to portrait reading (couldn’t on the Clara). I HATE, HATE, HATE: that I cannot sync to the furthest page read, if I am switch from the app to the Elipsa; that if I buy a book from another source, it does not automatically get added to a series. I mean if I can save on buying the book somewhere else and add it to the Elipsa, KOBO needs to catch up and allow the data to sync for series. The library is clunky. Come on KOBO. Ya’ll have been around enough to have fixed these very basic design and digital issues. It is lighter and the size is perfect for me. It is comfortable to hold and the lack of buttons, besides the power button, is perfect for me. The writing experience is lagging behind Kindle, Remarkable and Super Note, so I don’t use it for work, which it would be very useful for all of my many different meetings and projects. There are page change lags one to two times a day with about four hours of reading with the pages jumbling, freezing for a moment then operating normally. KOBO please fix the software where digital info from books from other sources can sync with the KOBO for syncing series and fix the syn to furthest page read on the Elipsa and in the app. The app does have the sync option pop up, but it does it when you are at the furthest page read and will take you back to when you last shut the book. Overall, the Elipsa is solid to use especially for those getting out of the kindle sphere where you don’t own the books you purchased and can no longer download them. These two things will have me going back to my Kindle Scribe and painstakingly adding other sourced books. The Elissa may be lighter and an almost comparable screen reading experience, but those are two must haves for me.

Great e-reader
I've been using the Kobo Elipsa 2E for about three months, and it’s very good. The 10.3-inch screen is a nice upgrade from my previous 7-inch reader, especially for PDFs—no more struggling with navigation as the whole page fits well. It’s great for bedtime reading, with a comfortable light and very good screen quality. That said, the" Elipsa 2E Black Sleepcover" is quite expensive at around $70 in the US (but I've got one, and still recommend it, because of good quality) . While the cover is good, I feel it should be bundled with the eReader at a reduced price. Another drawback is with the Notebook software; when using the stylus, it gets confused by input from the bottom of the palm (near the wrist) while writing. It would be great to have an option to disable touch input for that part of the hand and accept stylus-only input, but I couldn’t find this setting.

Makes reading fun for me again
Changed my life, I like reading again. Adjustable text size. Goes back to where you left off. Can make notes if I get lost. Just feels better than a smaller read in my opinion. Of course, won't find into a small bag or purse. I love sitting on my chair and reading to unwind after work now.

Kobo frozen screens vs inability to take notes on Kindle: almost a toss up
I expected to like this product a lot more than I actually do. It's driven me crazy for years that kindle can't manage to allow on page note taking, which is very important to me. So I jumped ship a few months ago because I live under a rock and had never heard of Kobo. And you can definitely take notes as advertised, which for me gives it a decisive win vs the kindle. But if you're not a fanatic about that feature then kindle is the way to go. And if you just want to highlight rather than actually write on the page, kindle is much smoother. The kobo underlining feature is pretty cumbersome. In addition, the Kobo screen freezes up A LOT. It eventually unfreezes then it often goes jumping around if you've pushed stuff trying to unfreeze it (lesson learned: be patient) That major bug definitely slows down your reading. Downloading newly purchased books can often be a chore as well, at least relative to kindle. I don't care as much about the screen brightness and color, but kindle definitely wins in that category as well. Lastly, I'm not sure if it's because I'm left handed but the Kobo tends to jump to another page or do something else unasked for much more than a kindle. I, like many people, wish kindle and kobo could get together and create the perfect e-reader. For now, I actually stick mostly to print books unless I'm in the mood for a somewhat bumpy ride with Kobo.

Bright, big screen, web browser for direct downloads.
I am very happy with this Kobo reader. I've owned kindles over the years, but the screens were too small and it was annoying to get books from outside the amazon ecosystem installed. The Kobo has its own ecosystem/web store, which seems fine. I am more interested in reading public domain and other non-copy protected books. For that, I find that the built in web browser is great; you just point it at the Epub site you are using, and download directly. For academic papers (JSTOR), this would be an OUTSTANDING reader, since it handles PDFs very nicely. The 10 inch screen is a must for PDFs. The pen and note taking abilities are a great bonus as well. I find that the pen keeps up amazingly well with rapid handwriting; no irritating lag at all. Very well executed firmware and UI, in my opinion.

Perfect, easy to use, very nice to work on!
I use this product daily in the office to take notes, draw schemes and map ideas, and export my notes regularly to a Word document for further processing on the PC. Not to mention reading books during my train journeys. The e-reader is easy to use, with simple, straightforward menus, has a great feel too it and a generous screen, and the export function to Word or PDF is very satisfactory. I can recommend it highly without any reservations.
