Great Cans
These are my third pair of Audio Technica cans, and are the best so far fantastic clear sound and a handy case, which i wish my previous AT cans had, the ATH7 and 7b, my 7's are now with my other half and 7b's are my bed side set, these can's sound out of this world and i use them outside with my Fiio M11 which they pair beautifully with, only down side they don't come with a balanced 4.4 cable like the 7b's so until i pick one up i an sharing the cable between the two, not an audiophile so from the perspective of a run of the mill 50 something well worth the money.

Audiophile Bargain!
Just wow! An amazing amount of detail and soundstage when listening to good quality recordings on a decent DAP. Not very forgiving on lower quality tracks, but why would you want to listen to crappy MP3 on these beauties? MQA on Tidal sounds terrific! Amazing at less than £170 as well. Bargain!

Disappointed
I bought this headphone after seeing a review in a Japanese magazine. Well, before the burn-in this headphone sounds terrible. It has very weak bass; mid is recessed and voice is sibililant; and treble is extendened but tinny. I can not be bothered for futher burn-in. This has to go back

The best portable headphones in this price range
While some audiophiles are willing to pay for multiple pairs of high-grade headphones to suit each occasion, I think the vast majority of people willing to pay hundreds of pounds for a single pair hope to do so only once - to have a great pair of headphones they can use at home but also take with them when they go to work or travel. That the market is currently saturated with Bluetooth, noise-cancelling portable headphones is a testament to this fact. But what if you don't want these additional features and would rather invest the money in getting simply the best audio quality possible? This is where the ATH-SR9 comes in. Audio Technica has designed these headphones with one goal in mind: to produce the best possible sound while maintaining portability, "for the audiophile on the go". From the split cable to the midpoint mounted driver to the ultra-rigid diaphragm coating, it is immediately apparent how much intelligent design has gone into ensuring the audio performance. And this trend continues with the build quality: the ATH-SR9 are seriously well-built headphones. Yet, unlike headphone brands (e.g. Master and Dynamic) that attract customers by just making everything out of flashy leather and metal, Audio Technica has again gone down the intelligent design route, using metal for the driver housings and headband but high grade plastic for less prominent components. This has two benefits: First, it actually means (counter-intuitively) that the headphones will be more durable, since the thin aluminium often used by competitors dents and scratches incredibly easily (I know from personal experience!). Second, it means that the ATH-SR9 weigh a mere 270g (by way of comparison, that's only a little heavier than the Sony WH-1000MX3), making them outstandingly comfortable for long listening sessions. As far as the sound signature is concerned, the ATH-SR9 is definitely V-shaped but the mids are still very clear and satisfying. These headphones are extremely detailed in their sound production, yet this had been offset by using a V-shaped signature so that they're still surprisingly fun and enjoyable even when playing from low quality audio sources (e.g. Youtube). While they're not the most bass-heavy headphones in the world, it's with the treble that they come into their element, producing amazingly crisp and elegant high notes that offer the excitement often lacking in warm sounding headphones. For me, the standout feature of these headphones is the soundstage: apart from the Sony Z7 it's probably the best soundstage of any closed-back headphone. It's so lifelike I've often forgotten I was wearing headphones at all. Overall, the best thing I can say about these headphones is that they genuinely put a smile on my face when I listen to them.In reviews online, people often compare these headphones to the Beyerdynamic DT 1770 Pro or Shure SRH 1540, but (while I personally believe they can stand up to the competition) such a comparison ignores the fact that these headphones have been designed to remain portable, not as home-use headphones without concern for size, foldability or weight. The only headphones that currently exist on the market (now that the Oppo PM-3 and B&W P7 have been discontinued) with which these can be truly compared are the Sennheiser HD 630VB - also an over-ear headphone designed for audiophiles on the go. I actually used to own the 630VB but returned them to buy the ATH-SR9 for two main reasons: First, the Sennheisers aren't really portable in any meaningful sense. Second, the Sennheisers are extremely heavy (about 400g) and so got uncomfortable after more than an hour of listening. Beyond that, I just prefer the detail, treble and soundstage of the Audio Technicas over the bass and immersion of the Sennheisers. To put it briefly:Pros: Great build quality, exceptional design, very comfortable, lifelike soundstage, crystal clear treble, extremely detailed yet still enjoyable with low quality audio.Cons: Not the richest bass, treble can be fatiguing in long listening sessions, still not the most portable headphones.

Best sounding/quality headphones Ive ever had.
Bought these over a year ago now and they are my daily driver for everything. Gym, walks, school, and everything else. Upgraded from the M50’s which are pretty good in themselves but these headphones take it a step higher. I use them everyday and everynigut and my ears or head do not get “tired” from wearing them. If you want a awesome pair of headphones, which also has a mic for phone calls, these are the ones.
