Magic Cloth for Water Brush Painting and Calligraphy

This cloth is used for practicing Chinese calligraphy using a water brush. When the water evaporates, your scribbles disappear. Here's now I made my own DIY Buddha Board for a fraction of the cost. I simply got an 1/8th inch wood panel from home depot, cut it slightly smaller than the cloth, sanded and rounded the edges, wrapped the cloth around the board and stapled it. This is actually quite a bit larger than the Buddha Boards so you don't run out of room as quickly. The cloth dries in about 5 minutes or so. I bought another cloth - "Large NO Grid Magic Cloth Water Practicing Chinese Calligraphy Drawing Paper (Thick)" which is supposed to be the same thing but costs even less. I haven't used it yet but will write a review when I get around to making another Buddha Board. As in the photo, the cloth is a little creased when you get it. Don't know if this is supposed to be guide lines for calligraphy but I simply ironed out the creases.

The mat works perfectly and is better than shown in that it is not wavy like in the photograph. I use it as a therapeutic tool to help get over 'bad' and overwhelming feelings. I 'dump' all that bothers me onto the mat. It illustrates powerfully how "all things pass".

Material very nice and also durable. If you want to learn Shodo on the cheap this is the way to go

Works well and is fun to use.

The only think I need to do is mount it on a board. I am hoping that 3M 77 spray glue will do the job.

Excellent product. It is a must for people who wants to practice Chinese calligraphy. Consider it is green and environment friendly.

I bought this so I could still work on my brush calligraphy without dragging a large board everywhere with me when traveling. It's super lightweight, and is a good size. The only detraction I can think of is the creasing that happened upon its arrival (as you can see in the photo they have of it). I spread it out flat and put several books on top to lessen the creasing. When traveling, I recommend rolling it onto a paper towel tube to avoid re-creasing. It's a good product though, and it's fun to experiment (especially around extended family).
