I've had this phone holder for about 2 years, and at this point I felt the need to write a review. In my experience, this is the most effective vent-mount phone holder than you can get for any Miata with "eyeball" vents (NA/NB). The hook on the holder latches on to the inner ring of the vent and keeps it secure. I recommend also doing the tape mod to make sure the vent won't move around much. I'll provide a photo of that, but essentially you just put some duct/gaffer tape on the eyeball to add friction. You can also use a bandaid, but I think heavy duty tape does a better job. In terms of build quality, it isn't perfect, but it has lasted me this long so theres that. There are many moving parts, all of which are made of plastic, which causes some play in the mechanism. I think it is fine for the money. A lot of Miata folks don't go the vent phone holder route because the eyeball vents are awkward in their range of motion, and because they're small. As someone who does not like tombstone-mounted holders (too far to the right) or suction-mount, (obscures vision) I am happy to have this.

It clips securely to the air vent without blocking airflow, which is a win since I like my AC ice cold and my visibility unobstructed. Plus, it holds my iPhone 16 Pro Max—a phone so large and advanced, I half expect it to start taking over driving duties. However, moderate off-roading? Well, let’s just say this holder starts living its best wobble life. Nothing catastrophic—my phone didn’t go flying, and I didn’t lose navigation in the middle of nowhere. But the wobbling does get a little dramatic, like it’s auditioning for a role as “the unsteady plot twist” in my driving adventures. If you stick to normal terrain, this mount is fantastic. It holds firm, adjusts easily, and looks sleek in the Lightning’s futuristic interior. But if you’re planning on off-roading? Maybe give it a pep talk beforehand… or invest in something more hardcore.

I was looking for a phone mount to replace my Belkin Vent Magsafe Mount that wasn't strong enough for how stiff the GR86 is. I wanted something that wouldn't block the infotainment, was easy to add and remove my phone, and would securely hold my phone. I also didn't want to buy the recommended Etsy Magsafe mount that gets jammed between parts of the car, costs way more than this. It seems like it wont fully attach to the middle vents of the car, but it works perfectly fine. I would also highly recommending not tightening the vent hook by feel and just visually inspect and judge when it's relatively stable. The arms also do not rotate during spirited driving, granted it's in an almost completely downward vertical angle. I have an iPhone 16 pro and the hooks or whatever you want to call it does touch the side buttons on the phone but I haven't seen it get pressed by mistake. UPDATE: Have been using it almost everyday since it was purchased in October last year. Still essentially 0 issues.

I highly recommend. It’s very small profile and holds your phone perfectly esp if you still use a popsocket like me. Has a lot of angle-ability to let you adjust how it sits. Overall very nice!

Easy to assemble, hooked into the vent solid and allowed the vent to function laterally. The mount itself is cool how it grabs the phone, it is highly adjustable but it’s too flimsy and vibrates and shakes with the road. For the price….not bad, I’m gonna run it for a while and see if I can live with the shake.

So far I really like this phone holder. I can move the phone around to a spot that I can see easily. It stays in place once I tighten it. My last phone mount did wireless charging and covered the whole back of the phone, so it kept overheating on even short drives. This keeps the phone cool. It is easy to put the phone in and take it out. I have a Google pixel 8 with a thin case, and it fits perfectly. I mostly bought this for hot weather, but I might just keep it because it's easier. The charging phone mount had to be plugged in with the car turned on to remove the phone, and I can use this when the car is off. I can just plug my phone in because this doesn't block the charging port.

This is pretty great! Attaches to vent securely, holds both my phone in a minimalist case as well as my wife's folio-style with screen cover (folded backwards) very well. Easy to drop in and take out. This is in a car with a smooth ride; I cannot speak for a stiff suspension on a rough road.
