I finished it
And that's the best I can say about the whole thing. My fault for not reading enough reviews before buying for a holiday read. Actually the plot, characterisation, action, worldbuilding and general sense of tension are simply not there, whether this is aimed at the YA market or not. When I read JK Rowling's first HP book I was sceptical initially about the amount of plagiarising, but came to respect her sheer creativity and love for her subject. This book (series of books) on the other hand, seems like an exercise in writing a trilogy, of filling 700 pages. Also, whether aimed at the YA market or not, there's no excuse for missing words, bad grammar and some of the cackhanded descriptions using language so unfit for a fantasy tale that I did look at one point into whether the author had actually written it in a different language and this was a translation that I was reading. Not for me, and really not fit for purpose unfortunately. I don't know whether any of the later stories improved at all, but I certainly won't be finding out.

I found all 3 of these books thoroughly entertaining. I did draw some similarities of these books with The Hobbit, some names being the same. However I soon grew to love and respect the relationships between the dragon riders and their dragons. It were both touching and beautiful. I can thoroughly recommend this trilogy and are now reading book 4 called The Balborite Curse.

Hopeless
Sadly (for me), this book and it cannot be called 3 books, is simply not worth the "paper" (kindle version) it is printed on. The dialogue is flat, the characters have no character, the action scenes have no edge, there is little descriptive parts, there are no amusing parts and the writing can only be described as childish. There are grammar mistakes, spelling mistakes and words missed entirely. So ... why did I give this a 2 star? The story line is actually quite good but unfortunately, that is all.

Clever and satisfying story, but needs more detail
The story is good with plenty of twists and a nice spread of characters. I just wish it was more detailed and less rushed. There's a lot of _telling_, especially at the start. I want to _see_ the characters develop and understand more of what they're thinking. I don't want to be _told_ this is what happened, I want to _see_ it happen. There are also a few parts where we're told about some secret when we don't need to be, yet. Many times we suspect the truth already and it's more satisfying to wait for the truth to be revealed to the (main) characters.

enjoyed reading the trilogies
enjoyed reading the trilogies. It was well written. I liked Thorin and Tallin really likable. The story line was alright not too long and had a good ending. Left it so the charectures can be used again. Will be buying book four.

Excellent value for money.
This series of three books travels at a sedate pace with many a twist and turn to keep the reader avidly turning those pages. Great read and contained my favourite elements dwarves, humans, orcs, elves, and of course dragons. These are set against the 'baddies' necromancers, soldiers, assorted villains. Great to absorb yet another new world and its inhabitants.

Loved it
Thoroughly enjoyed reading all the three books and couldn't set them down. The only reason I didn't give this 5/5 stars is because I found the final battle over far too quickly and far too easily.
