Excellent polarizing filter!
I had never heard of Marumi filters before so was a little wary when I ordered their polarizing filter the first time. Yes I said the first time. I now own several different sizes: 58mm, 62mm, 67mm and 77mm and have been very happy with them. I have owned and used several other brand name polarizers and can tell you there are differences between some of them and the Marumis. The Marumis are very thin but still unscrew easily from the lens unlike several other brands that get stuck and need filter wrenches to remove. I have never had a problem removing any of the Marumis from any of my lenses. The Marumis also differ in how they control reflections and darken skies. They are not as aggressive as some of the others meaning they do NOT darken a blue sky as drastically. If you like a dark almost black sky, you might not like the effect Marumis produce. They will darken a blue sky but I think it's a more pleasing and realistic result than some of the other brands. Neither is good or bad to me, it's all personal preference. The Marumis control reflections well and I have had no problems reducing the reflected light on water. All in all I am very happy with these filters. But, as I stated earlier, the results you expect might be different from what these filters will produce.

A wonder for a small price!
This filter can easily make clouds pop out and bring out details in a photo you might not even know exist. Polarizers remove glare and reflections in images as well. If you have a window, a mirror or something in your shot you can block the reflected light and make your subject the focus of attention instead of some glare in the background. These are also great for snow/ice & water shots. Instead of just seeing the sky reflected off the surface of the water you will be able to right down into the water and follow an anchor chain or see a swimming school of fish.Besides being able to reduce glare on water, glass, ice etc. these filters will also help when used for long distance shots. They will be able to somewhat cut through haze when doing long distance shots.I've tried a few 'store' brands of polarizers and would only get pixelated garbage on crops. The Marumi seems to eliminate this and also has a nice smooth buttery feel when you are adjusting it.I am really surprised how few upvotes these reviews get. The Marumi filter performs as well as CPL filters costing many times more.

the best quality, even if you don't count the price
I'd say this is a hidden gem.I've been an photography enthusiast for about 10 years, but Marumi was not familiar name. The only Marumi I know of was BB gun maker.Anyway, I'm really glad I found this item and ordered it. I have filters from BW, Tiffen, and Hoya, and here are what I felt about Marumi.1. It's thin. It's important to have a thin filter on the wide lens. I'm using this filter on Tamron 28-75, which is known to have some vignetting at 28mm. Thick filters makes vignetting even worse, but this one virtually has no effect on vignetting.2. The anodizing is exceptional. I'd say anodizing on this filter is the best I've used. Anodizing is important in that poor anodizing is easily worn out and tighten the rotation of CPL. Tight rotation can make your CPL separated from the lens while you look for an optimal position of CPL. Due to a high quality anodizing, this filter shows very smooth, but not loose, rotation of CPL.3. CPL effect is what I expected, deeper sky, more saturation.4. It does have multi coating, which is effective. MC often is not effective in some filters, but MC on this filter is very effective in reducing flare and ghosts.I'm glad I found this brand and I'm going to replace my Hoya 52mm CPL with Marumi. Recommended.

Well worth the expense--this CPL gets top marks!
After first buying a bargain "CPL" filter which literally ruined my images, I decided to buy the best circular polarizer I could afford. Reading the in-depth tests of CPLs on LensTip convinced me to buy this filter made by Marumi, an unknown brand to me. After testing this filter myself, I cannot be more pleased with the results. The filter does all one would expect from a high-quality CPL: reduce reflections, deepen sky tones and improve contrast--while functioning properly with autofocus but not degrading the image. As another reviewer noted, it does not "overfilter" and darken the sky unnaturally. Additionally, the filter actually improved the clarity and tonal range of subjects--my tests produced sharper, more detailed results in my images--see my comparison picture in the gallery. On a lens which fits the 67mm filter, this CPL reduces available light by 1 1/3 stops. The construction of this filter is excellent. It's a low-profile design, sitting only 5mm beyond the lens, yet it's easy to attach. When I screw in the filter, I like to first attach the lens cap. That way, I won't leave fingerprints on the filter glass.

Astonishing performance for the price
Like some other reviewers have mentioned, I picked this filter up based on a very exhaustive polarizer roundup from Lenstip.com. So far this filter has worked very, very well on my D80 at a significant discount from a number of "major" filter brands. My sole negative comment is that the filter is VERY low profile, which is a mixed blessing. Making it thinner on the end of the lens means you can sometimes squeeze a hood on, or avoid vignetting on very wide lenses, but the flip side is that it can be tricky to unscrew owing to the low profile and very fine threading that filters use. Goes double if you're using adapter rings, so perhaps take care that you don't tighten it way down or you might have a job getting it off again.

High Quality, good price circular polarizer
The Marumi line of circular polarizers are a high-quality CPL for a great price. I would recommend these over the B+W, Tiffen, Hoya brands any day. I use these on all my primary lenses including: Canon 70-200 f/4 L IS, Tokina 11-16 DX Pro, Tamron 24-70mm 2.8 VC, Sigma 30mm 1.4, Canon 60mm 2.8 Macro, and Sigma 180mm 3.5 Macro.Do not hesitate purchasing this CPL, it is multi-coated to prevent scratches and reflections, and is made of high quality metal with a good, matte black finish.
