I have used a Messfix measuring rod for years, I take 100 to 200 measurements per day, the last rod lasted around 10 years before the tape inside wore out making it difficult to read So I decided I needed a new 3 metre rod (my old one was a 4 metre, the new compact ones are only available in 3 or 5 metre) I have noticed that when the end of the new compact rod is twiddled a bit when it’s extended that the size changes! But once I push it against the brickwork or collapse the rod it goes right again - kept me entertained for a wile
