Good
Excellent PowerSmart 1200-watt generator. It's compact, lightweight, and very easy to transport, ideal for camping or as a backup in case of emergency. It starts without problems, consumes little fuel, and its noise level is quite low compared to other generators of its size. The build quality is good, and it provides stable power for running lights, fans, and small appliances. Very satisfied with the purchase.

Nice little generator
I got this as to use for basic back up power for hurricanes and it does the job I need it to. For clarity my model is rated at 1200w peak and 1000w running, I’ve seen a couple versions of this on Amazon. I’ve been through a couple of extended power outages with it and it can power a tv, some fans, some led lamps and a mini fridge without fuss which is exactly what I was looking for. With that sort of load I was using a gallon of gas every four hours or so which is fine. Starting was easy and it runs without any issues. Noise is a bit high but that’s a small worry. Overall I’m happy with this little guy, it gives me enough creature comforts during some bad times and the small size is easy to deal with. Recommended!

Early testing results
This cost double what they were a couple of years ago, but still may be worth your purchase. I've only ran it for testing purposes so far. Here are my thoughts. * relatively light weight and small size (what I needed) * a bit louder than higher-end generators. Less noise than a lawn mower, but... * seems to run okay (but it is NOT broken in, yet. I think 5 hours is the break-in period) When I first got it, I took out the sparkplug and shot a little WD40 into the cylinder and gave the starter cord a few pulls to lubricate the cylinder. Added the fuel/oil mixture to the tank then put the ignition switch on and the choke on "start". Gave it a few more pulls to get the fuel into the bowl, then tried to start it. Took 7 pulls to start and ran really rough (as expected). I moved the choke to 1/2 off and let it run another 15 seconds, then slowly moved the choke to "Run". While idling, the rpm's weren't steady at all. I had heard that you may need to adjust the idle screw (which you can see near the pull-start handle, but don't know how you get at it to adjust. Anyway, it settled down, mostly. After letting it idle for about 5 minutes, I ran a 10 watt load just to test the AC power. I then ran a 600 watt load (I couldn't find anything smaller). The motor sags, at first, then revved up to handle the load. I ran it for about 8 minutes, then turned off the load and shut off the fuel. It ran for another minute then quit. I ran the same test today, using my digital watt/voltage/amp meter. Ran the same load as before. Running a 600 watts/5 amps vacuum cleaner, it seemed to run just okay. It was almost, but not quite a steady idle. The voltage fluctuated between 118 and 124 mostly. Near the very beginning, it was really hunting and was between 110 and 130 volts but settled down after a couple of minutes. I'm taking it out for an extended trip, so I hope to get some more experience with it and will update in the future. Cheers!

Defective product...Zero customer service!
I purchased this generator with high hopes. I know that you get what you pay for but for me, $150 isn't chump change. I wasn't expecting Honda quality but I also wasn't expecting a fire hazard and absolutely no response from the seller. I followed all the instructions and ran the generator under no load for a proper break-in period. It started fine and seemed to be running well. It was a bit loud but not unreasonable. I plugged in a 5.5amp drill motor and ran it without putting any strain on the drill. The generator sped up noticeably and things seemed fine. However, within less than 5 minutes, I began to smell smoke and saw it rising from underneath the generator. I immediately shut it off and moved it to see what was burning. As you can hopefully see from the picture, the bark that was under it was charred and smoking. I let the generator cool down and moved it to a concrete floor. It started up, ran for under a minute, then died and hasn't started since. I contacted the seller via email and received an automated response that they would get back to me soon. Two weeks later(!), I followed up asking how long it took to get a response and they responded asking for product details and pictures which I promptly sent. I never heard back from them and all future emails I sent were kicked back saying I had exceeded my sending limit(???). I tried calling the number printed on the generator but it just rang and rang. Finally, I got through only to be sent directly to leaving a voice-mail, which I did and have still not received any response. Bottom line, this is a dangerous and defective product that has zero product support. They've designed things to string you along until your return window has passed. Avoid at all costs!

I can’t kill it
I have to say, I am thoroughly impressed with this 1000w generator. I mean, I bought it for mobile detailing with the intent of upgrading later on. However, I never expected it to be the Nokia phone of generators. I've been beating the crap out of it for two years now and it just keeps going and going and going. I've used it with tools that far exceed its wattage rating, incorrectly mixed fuel, rarely let it warm up before putting maximum load on it, and I haven't serviced the air filter or spark plug once. And yet, it still runs like a top. Even in sub-freezing temperatures, it starts with only a few pulls. It frightens me. I’ve been intentionally trying to kill it, but every night it whispers threats to me in my dreams. It knows when I’m trying to overload it and instead psychologically terrorizes me to the point of sobbing and runs off my tears only to output the energy of the Sun and reliability of a Honda. I'm convinced this thing is indestructible. I'm thinking of putting wheels on it and entering it in a demolition derby just to win the coveted first place trophy desired by rednecks across the globe. Overall, I highly recommend this generator to anyone in need of a reliable and durable power source. Just don't expect to have the luxury of it having a lifetime shorter than yours. It's like the cockroach of generators. On a serious note, it has only had two problems: 1. The power supply wire came loose from vibration and wouldn’t supply power. It was a quick fix (5 minutes). 2. It leaked fuel between the tank and feed line. Again, it was just from all of the hours of harsh vibration. Just needed to take off the front panel and secure the line. This whole generator is very easy to work on in case anything goes wrong and uses universal parts. I highly recommend it.

Nice Generaor
Finally had some warm weather time to take the PowerSmart 1200 for a test drive. Added fuel 50 to 1 mix started right up. First run 10 minutes NO LOAD then added a 50 watt load voltage and hertz looking good. Run time app 25 minutes added another 80 watts run time with the additional load 15 minutes. The engine is tight which is what one would see in a new motor. Removed load run time 10 minutes for cool down. Turned off fuel allowed engine to run dry. Did another run today for 30 minutes added a little more load. Will update in a few weeks after engines has more hours. Up date March 03 2026 allowed generator to run for 5 minutes before doing a load test, load of 500 watt from a heater run time 30 minutes voltage and Hz looking great. Have about 12 hours run time, ready for our summer storm season. Thanks David
