It works on the rite in the rain pad fine

No, you have to buy special refills. They don't last very long but the pens are tough.

Q: Does this smudge on glossy labels?

No, it is very fine and not the darkest writer but it did not smudge. Of course you have to let it dry for a few seconds

Q: What size is the black pen - the size shown is longer than the other colours?

The black pen is the same size as the other ones. I have the black one and orange one. Both same size.
