Purchased this and had it hooked up in a short time. The instructions were simple and easy to understand, the only thing that seems wrong is when they tell you to hook the out plug to the in port and the in plug to the out port. It sounds wrong, but actually it isn't That setup is required so that the keyboard and the computer can talk to each other. Before I got my piano/keyboard lesson software, I downloaded a software program called Midi-Ox, and was able to verify that the keyboard and the computer were connected properly and were talking to each other. Now I have my keyboard lessons software and everything works beautifully. The other end of the cable goes to your USB port on the computer I would recommend this item to anyone who wants to use a keyboard and computer to either learn music or to make or compose music.

There is a reason this is so cheap, it doesn't work. Tried it out on my keyboard and it's terrible. It doesn't track all the notes you play, and reports some keys being held down when they aren't. Do yourself a favor and spend a couple extra bucks on something better that actually works unless you're fine with 75% of the notes you play being reported accurately to your computer.

I can only speak on its compatibility with strymon guitar effects. This cables does not work with the strymon brand. You have to buy the Rolland midi cable.

I cannot give this a one star review as its usefulness was hit or miss.Bad Experience:My original intent for this cable was to hook up an Ensoniq ESQ1 directly to my computer and save myself the hassle of keeping two interfaces around since only one had MIDI capability. Unfortunately, this does not work for my keyboard. Issues ranged from random notes playing, getting stuck or playing repeatedly, dead notes, and controls sending as keyboard notes, I ran the device through MIDI OX and discovered that about 80% of the keys pressed actually came through, while the rest would be completely different notes on separate octaves, functions such as pitch bending or modulation, or even playing other banks or MIDI channels when the keyboard was set to mono, single channel. Unfortunately, for a classic 80's synth this was not a good purchase.For comparison, they keyboard works flawlessly running through my Presonus Firestudio Mobile from MIDI to MIDI with no errors in MIDI OX.Good Experience:There is an upside, however. I tested again a BOSS drum machine with zero issues. I was able to play notes on the keyboard with every note coming through. As well, MIDI OX showed no issues with the input. Had I bought it for the BOSS, I would have been satisfied. I imagine it works well enough on newer equipment.TL:DRI don't recommend buying this for vintage hardware, but it seems like a viable option for newer equipment.

Firstly - I couldn't give it 5 stars because I feel the cables themselves are just that little bit too thin for prolonged use - setting up and putting away.Secondly - it just works... no fuss, no hassle - which is exactly what I wanted!I'm only an amateur musician..... so I've not tried anything clever with it.... but I've tested it on linux and android (Lollipop+) and after simple config in the DAW's, it works fine!I used Rosegarden on linux (Mint 18.2) - and this is my preferred setup from now on. On android - you'll have to find a DAW that works for you - I had a few problems with 'Audio Evolution's display settings - which could possibly be tweaked.... but I'm not going to be following up on that - I use it for audio recording!

Am using it with my vortex alesis and mainstage theres alot of delays and notes being stuck so to me it was a waste of money but some might have a different opinion
