Cultural Apologetics for Hunger Games Fans
I got this devotion book because my daughter is Hunger Games crazy. We do devotions every night as a family, and we had just finished a book and I was looking for another one to start. This book takes the elements of a popular, well-written series and relates it to spiritual principles. We have had many engaging discussions based on this devotion book. The only thing that I would warn a potential reader of is that this devotion book covers all three books from the trilogy so if you have not read all three books, there may be some spoilers in this devotion book.

Interesting Take
A well-written and thought provoking look at a popular series. The Hunger Games shows a bleak and depressing future, and though God, the Church, and the afterlife are never referred to in the series. HE can still be found in the overwhelming need for a Savior. I highly recommend this book to any Christian fan of the series, and for those who found the read "too depressing," as well!

A useful tool for hardened HG fans.
It is a good way to introduce non believers to Jesus if they really enjoyed the book.I am supporting learning in class and The Hunger Games is part what our year 11 has to study, however,it didn't add anything to me personally as a Spirit filled Christian but may bless others. It may be because the original HG book is something I would never read as a believer but had to read it as part of my job.It should be only to lead others to Christ but there are other ,possibly far more effective ways to do that.It could be used as an opener though.

Hijacking a non-Christian book to promote religion
This book has very Evangelical quiet time or Bible study devotions, and yet these are a far cry from the real themes of the Hunger Games. Evangelicals would be better off being more open minded and creative, rather than hijacking content from the non-Christian sources that we normally criticize.

Decent devotional book for those who like the Hunger Games
It had some useful things that I used to kickstart ideas in the Hunger Games series I did with our Teens. Warning there were Spoilers for future movies.

Great Companion to the Books
This book takes readers through the Hunger Games trilogy and draws parallels between biblical truths and ideas Collins puts forth in her books. It has 30 days of readings that offer a verse, a commentary on an idea from the Hunger Games, how that relates to biblical truth, and then a one or two sentence summary on the following page.I loved the Hunger Game trilogy and couldn't wait to read this book! I just got the book this morning and have read through it entirely already. I enjoyed reliving the Hunger Games from a different perspective, especially one that caused me to look at the characters that I know so well in a different way. Now that I have read it through once, I look forward to going back through it one reading at a time to really meditate on the truths and apply them in every day life. One of the ideas discussed in this book is the idea of unconditional love. Sarns uses the unconditional love that Peeta shows to Katniss to demonstrate the unconditional love that God shows to us. Even after Peeta was hijacked, his love for Katniss was strong enough to overcome the brainwashing. Some other themes Sarns identified were self-sacrifice, serving the poor, honesty, generosity, and forgiveness. One of the things I like the best about this book is that it would appeal to fans of the Hunger Games that don't necessarily believe in God, but teach them a little about his character and Jesus's sacrifice for us. I can see where it could be an excellent outreach study for young believers to share with their friends. It isn't deeply philosophical with complex theology, it is a light discussion on how we can live our lives in ways that are pleasing to God.I highly recommend this book to anyone who has read the Hunger Games books and enjoyed them. If you liked the Hunger Games, you will love this book.I received this book from bookcrash.com in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

We Are Spiritual Beings
As spiritual beings we tend to look for the meaning in the words authors put to paper. Such is the case with this book. Selena Sarns has worked to link the inevitable spiritual tendencies in this human drama to the love and works of God even though there is no mention of Him; good, bad, or otherwise. So, I read this devotional book after I saw the first movie. I have not read the series as yet, but I did find the movie enjoyable. This book of devotions covers the entire book series so there are spoilers. I had a good idea of what to expect from certain scenes in the second movie based on this book.Selena Sarns does a good job of relating how a scene from the books reflects, or does not reflect, the characteristics of Jesus and how His followers should behave towards others. Each devotion starts with a passage of scripture followed by a summary of a scene from the series. While God may not be a specific part of the Hunger Games series itself, God is very present in this devotion. This is great for a parent, or friend, of a die-hard Hunger Games junkie—and there seem to be a lot of those. Whether it’s a book you read together with you child or just to gain knowledge to help a friend think more deeply about Jesus Christ, this book is worth reading.I received this book free of charge from The Bible People through BookCrash in exchange for an honest review.

nice Interpretation of the Hunger Games
I like the Text. It is well grounded in the bible. I Wonder if the aufhor really thought about the scripture when she wrote the novels.

Felt it was struggling to make a point . .
The idea of literature as literature (or even a story as just a story) seems to have passed the author by.There are one or two good points, but really, it felt like she was scratting around for content. There are one or two valid comparisons - but not enough to warrant a book, I felt.
