Good introductory text
This pocket-sized guide from JP Medical's Pocket Tutor series focuses upon ECG Interpretation. There are introductory chapters on first principles, understanding the normal ECG and a six-step interpretation method. The explanation of ECG vectors and the use of illustrations with the six-step method are particularly accomplished. The subsequent chapters are divided by pathology: Sinoatrial node dysfunction, conduction abnormalities, ectopic beats, atrial arrhythmias, SVTs, broad-complex tachyarrhythmias, ischaemia and infarction, inherited arrhythmias and a general sweep-up chapter. For each, there are relevant ECGs with text setting out the key features, underlying pathophysiology, clinical relevance and managementLike all of the books I have seen from this new and rapidly-expanding series, it works best if used as an introductory text or revision aid. Rather than replacing the Oxford Handbooks series, the Pocket Tutor series is a useful adjunct, probably best suited to use by clinical medical students and foundation doctors.

Good little intro and reference.
Good little book for initial intro and looking back over for reference but glosses over a lot of issues. Did get a lot out of it. Several of the annotations seem to have errors. Descriptions are too brief without more background knowledge. Not the only book you'll need on ECG.

How?!
This book arrived with all-but-one page of Chapter 15 missing and no index section either, which is contrary to what is listed in the Contents section. After page 168, a duplication of Chapters 6 and 7 has been inserted. Disappointing. How do you let something like this happen?

There are so many books on this subject. This one however, is very well written and is full of useful information, normally only encountered in larger volumes and presented in easy to follow stages. Easily slips in the pocket so will be ideal to keep handy when faced with the need to examine ECG recordings. Ideal for medical students and nurses.
