TP-Link Tapo Matter Smart Light Switch – Voice Control with Siri, Alexa & Google Home This is another great piece of hardware in my TP-Link Tapo smart home setup. In my house these switches are used in places where dimming isn’t needed, such as ceiling fans, flood lights, and other fixtures that only require simple on/off control. I currently run a large Tapo ecosystem with more than 50 devices throughout the house including dimmers, switches, outlets, and plugs. These standard switches fit right into that system and have been very reliable. Setup through the Tapo app is simple and programming routines is straightforward. Once installed they integrate easily with the rest of the system and respond quickly to commands. I use them with Alexa for voice control, but the native routines inside the Tapo app are actually very powerful and work great for automations. The Matter support is another big plus since it allows local control and fast response times even if the internet connection drops. After about a year of use these switches have been stable and dependable just like the rest of my Tapo devices. And just for fun… Tapo, if you’re reading this—between Tapo, Kasa, and Omada gear I’ve probably spent a few thousand dollars building out this system!

I installed this 2‑pack of Tapo S505 smart light switches around my house and I’m really happy with how well they work. These switches let me control lights remotely via the Tapo app, or with voice commands using Alexa, Google Assistant, or Siri, which is super convenient when my hands are full. The Matter compatibility means they integrate smoothly with other smart home systems and work reliably even when the internet is down — local control is responsive and fast. The schedule and timer features are great for automating my lights, and setup with the app was straightforward (just make sure you have a neutral wire in the switch box). Overall these switches are a great value for making regular lights “smart”, and the 2‑pack gives you flexibility for multiple rooms. Perfect for anyone upgrading to a more connected home!

Purchased a variety of Tapo smart switches (single pole, 3 and 4-way, dimmers) to replace stupid WEMO switches that were deprecated (class action lawsuit against belkin???). These were a quick and easy replacement for the Wemo switches and have the Matter option so even if TP-link shuts off their app like WEMO, they can still connect through Alexa/home hubs. They seem to be of good quality and thr app is great, including ability to monitor energy usage. After setup in the app, to connect with Alexa you go into the Tapo app, open the switch, click the gear, then get and copy the matter code. That is needed or thr QR code to add to Alexa. After adding to Alexa you can use the AI chat in Alexa to quickly setup rules (shut off the closet light after it has been on for 30 minutes) or (turn the fan on for ten minutes every hour between this time and this time on these days) and it quickly sets up the rules. That might have been the nicest part is easily replacing the Wemo rules I had spent time setting up. Definitely recommend these.

Good product. Easy intelligent set up. Little problem with linking to Alexa. Did the link. Did not work. Slept on it and linked again the next morning. Works great Amazon Alexa. Get your act together. Looked like I linked from 2 different menus. Difficult to find the right page. Google pages were incorrect Good bye and good riddance Wemo Belkin. You have failed your customers. You wo’nt sell me any more of your products.

Barely costs more than a basic light switch. Easy to wire and fits in older boxes. Easy to connect to WiFi and HomeKit. Able to set a schedule in the app to automatically turn on the light at sunset and off at sunrise.

Fairly easy install. Using with Apple home, so I wanted direct home or matter support for my use. That setup with matter was easy as all matter devices have been. Just scan the code and wait a few seconds. I wasn’t sure at first if the cover plate would remove since all online pictures show it attached but happy to report it does remove and I needed this since it was installed in a box with a receptacle next to it so I needed to use that larger cover plate for both. I do wish the surrounding of the switch had a bit more metal. The mount screws just go through plastic. I’d prefer the commercial style that typically has a bracket that is the mount hole and u around the length of the back to the other mount hole. Mainly because this switch is a bit larger so even inside a deep box, having that metal support to push it in would just make me feel better. It all works and didn’t break but that would be my preference. The switch does have stranded wires for connections. And again if a commercial style back wire option were there I would prefer that. But this works fine and for most folks installing to replace an existing switch will be fairly easy. Included orange wire nuts are kinda cheap and other wires in the box were #12 so I went with yellow on all the connections that were a bit deeper and u felt more secure. The switch is for near garage door outside lights and was wired as a new circuit, so hot and neutral were wired to that box since new. But the rest of my older 1973 built house doesn’t have both hot and neutral at mt switch locations so I have only used one of these so far. Happy with the performance, so when I get time I will bring neutral to the living room switch that I plan to use the other one from this pack for, and tie into the door lock to turn on that light when the door is open. Seeing how well it works makes me now want to go through the little extra effort to upgrade my old house wiring for that one switch at least (I’d love to do almost the entire house but that’s going to require a lot of new wire runs to get the neutral)

There easy to control with Phone app and alexa but be sure to order flicker free dimming bulbs some are better than others but these smart swithes work great. easy to conect to wi fi .

So easy to install and setup. Wife and kids love asking Siri to control various lights. Works perfectly with Apple Home. Easy to automate.
