Falcon Eyes RX-12T Kit 280 Lights Lightweight Roll-Flex LED Light Waterproof Lamp with Softbox Diffuser (RX-12T with Diffuser)

I purchased this light (for food photography) based on the recommendation by Caleb over at DSLR Video Shooter. This is one of his favorite lights from 2018. Daylight has always been my light source when shooting food, but during winter it gets dark pretty fast. Also, not having lights has limited my ability to do food photography during the evenings. I have a couple of Alien Bees strobe lights that I use for portrait photography; however, my extensive research made me realize I needed continuous lighting. I was so happy to run into DSLR Video Shooter's YouTube channel. I learned a lot from Caleb's reviews. I did not want to spend a fortune on lights because photography is just a hobby for me, so when Caleb recommended this light kit, I went for it. I tested it the day I got it to see if it would work for me. I set up a flat lay and needed the light overhead, so I hung the light on a backdrop stand and it worked perfectly. The attached photo was taken with no post color temperature correction and it looks like daylight. This light is bright! My only gripe was there was no proper instruction booklet on how to set up everything. But, I figured it out eventually.

Fairly intuitive setup. There are two potential set ups. I tried both options and found that the directed softbox version was more appropriate for my needs. However, both offered a nice soft light in a very light package. I'm using the light for a mobile streaming setup, so that's perfect. The color temperature is appropriate for my serup but having a option for color control would be nice. Currently, I just use gels to make any changes to temperature. Not difficult and the low heat emitted from the light makes it very easy to manage. I'll likely be buying a couple of these for other production usage.

I got this for a desktop streaming setup.The good:- The size is large enough to create reasonably soft light on a person's head and still allow some side to side movement without getting.- It's small enough to stay out of the way, a definite plus if you don't have room for a full-sized softbox.- Lights are quiet and stay cool after hours of continuous use.- Cords are long enough.- Hanging loop on the dimmer module is appreciated.The bad:- The instructions for the light are almost non-existent and what is supplied is mostly in Chinese.- There are no instructions for either light modifier. The rectangular softbox wasn't too hard to figure out, but the other contraption remains a mystery.- The dimmer module is bulky and generic, and has outputs that are not used.- The light develops a noticeable flicker at random times. You can see it when you are looking at it, but it's not enough to show in camera as far as I can tell. Nudging the dimmer knob usually resolves it but this is highly annoying.- The diffusion material on the softboxes is too thin.Overall, it's working. If I needed a similar light in the future I would look for alternatives.

When my light came in, I had a challenging time setting it up as the English version of the instructions are not good. However, I was able to find videos on YouTube that demonstrated the set up clearly. Once set up, I found that the converter box was not functioning. I contacted support and they sent me a new box. The light is working perfectly now. The brightness and quality of material are excellent for my needs. And the Support rep, Lisa was great at keeping me updated on the status of my support case.

Value for money is awesome. I love the range of brightness. LEDs means it’s low heat and if you’ve ever used more traditional lighting... you know the sweating starts a couple of minutes after the lights turn on! It’s very lightweight and exactly what I was looking for in a main light for shooting YouTube videos.The instructions are less than minimal, but there are a couple of how-to’s vudeos on you tube if you search and that made set up easy.What I wish it had... the ability to change the hot/cool/daylight tint.

It works, it's functional.

This has been a game changer for my video production work flow. It’s the perfect amount of light that I can control so easily with dimmer and the quality is outstanding. Heavy fabric and dimmer is made of solid materials. Also cord control is great with the loop to hang the dimmer and the Velcro to hold cord in place, a very nice touch.
