A needed tool when soldering-anything
these. soldering iron tip cleaners are perfect for cleaning the soldering tip and keeping it shinny. It is so east to use, and easy to reload a new brass ball into it, when the brass ball needs replaced in the brass ball holder assembly. And it comes with 3 extra brass refills. This is a very useful product.. There is nothing negative that can be said of this brass tip cleaner!

Clean your iron!
After a 40 year "vacation" from electronics hobby, started soldering again.I'm appalled at the crud that builds up on the iron using modern solder, farworse than I remember. I found it necessary to wipe the iron on a wet papertowel quite often to keep it clean. This is handier and works very well.

Works great but brass balls don't fill cavity like shown in photo
OK, fast food burgers always look a lot better in commercials than they do in real life, but that's no surprise. But don;t we expect more from soldering tip cleaners? No? Oh well. In this case, the only criticism I have of this tip cleaner is the woolly brass balls do not fill up the cavity anywhere near as much as shown in the pictures here on Amazon. In fact they all but roll around deep in side the cavity. I tried "fluffing" one of the balls up so it would be near the opening, but it just shrunk back to its original size. I can get used to anything, but I was hoping for a brass wool ball that pretty much stayed in place like the one in the pictures here suggest they might. Instead, I find myself having to chase around the ball inside the cavity with my soldering tip.That said, it's really a great product at a great price. The body seems to be made of some sort of metal (tin?) unlike some I've seen, but never owned, that are made of plastic - top soldering tips and plastic? No thanks. I added some old nuts and washers to add some weight to mine and also to try to push-up the brass ball. It's not necessary but it seems to help. I would recommend this tip cleaner. It's much better than the wet sponge I used to use on my soldering station!

Does the job... but could use some design improvements.
Just to be clear the pads are slightly smaller than the photo. Basically there is more room in the housing so the pads float around a bit. The solution just put something else in there to fill the space, or toss in two of the pads.Also the thing slides around a bit. I recommend adding a good rubber pad on the bottom, or for a simple solution just some double sided tape.
