Buried Treasures
A brilliant record -- how most of these beguiling tracks were never released at the time is a mystery! I guess the right people just didn't take her work seriously—maybe it was just too subtle. Throughout, Vashti comes across as a sort of English Françoise Hardy. Some of the songs -- in particular the superb I'd Like to Walk Around in Your Mind and Winter Is Blue—have inventive, sensitive arrangements. One listen to them and you'll be hooked. Most of the tracks, however, are home demos that feature Vashti solo on guitar, charmingly introducing the title of each track, so that you really feel you're in the room. Quite different -- more straightforwardly melodic, more direct -- than her later folky output [which is also great in a different way], this is essential for anyone with affection for great 60s pop music.

A very nice selection of early songs and demos
A very nice selection of early songs and demos, including private tape transfers. The sound quality of some is not top standard - thus no top score - but I find this an interesting addition to my collection of sixties pop music.
