Antoni 5555 4/4 & 3/4 Sized Violin Shoulder Rest

Beautiful to look at, less attractive to use
Tried to use this with the Antoni electric violin. Fits perfect to the electric violin, brilliant to look at, the colour of the felt is rich red and very attractive. Alas if I could state the same about its use. The pad is firm but flat, inadequate to keep the violin from sliding down towards the chest. I rest it on my shoulder over a silicon pad else the satin felt gives way the violin.

Not the product advertised
I ordered this item based on the image displayed on line. What was sent was completely different — a product of fundamentally different characteristics. Something of a con: the item displayed was of at least a 'fair copy' of a very well known brand. The item delivered bore no resemblance. Very disappointed.

Not excellent quality
One of the rubber feet has a hole so the metal scratches the violin. When it's on, the bottom is touching the violin so when it's being played, that's going to press and scratch it. It does the job and is easy for my daughter to put on, but it doesn't fit inside the violin case! It has to have its feet poking out! She doesn't use it most of the time because it cannot stay on the violin in the case and she can't close the case properly with it inside, even in the place designed for one of these. The quality and fit is not what I expected. If I had time, I'd buy a different one.

Very cheaply made but works fine.
I chose to buy this after reading the review about it fitting electric violins. I have a Stagg 4/4 EVN and I found that it is difficult to balance without a shoulder rest. When I first received the item I was a bit skeptical. The metal under plate was scratched and the only thing holding the legs in place were some screws that when tightened just push down on the metal legs. There are two screws for each leg so that you can adjust the length but I found that it would only fit my 4/4 violin with the legs fully extended. This leaves only one screw to hold the legs in so they do swivel a bit when not attached to the violin. It took a few attempts to get it to fit properly - you really have to twist the springy legs quite far. It's nice and solid when attached although in it's current position one of the legs covers the socket for connecting it to an amp, the other two sockets are free though. The cushion itself certainly isn't thickly padded and the cover is just synthetic and feels like the inside of my violin case. It's soft enough to not be uncomfortable and thanks to the cheap fabric it doesn't slide at all on cotton so I can slide my hand along the fingerboard without moving the violin. For now it seems good enough but I have literally just fitted it and only time will tell whether it really was worth getting.I would certainly recommend looking at all the available products first, here and on other websites.

Does the Job
This violin rest does the job with minimal slipping and is very comfortable. The actual product sent is different from the one shown (I have uploaded pictures!) but is not that much of a problem. the only drawback is is takes quite a bit of time to set it into the right position. I would recommend to anyone wanting to buy a shoulder rest. Me Gusta Mucho!

Easy to put on, comfortable to use
Bought for my daughter when she went up a violin size. Previously had 1/2 size so stayed with the same design as happy with it.

Dissappointed
Looks perfect and fits the violin well, but the adjustment screws keep coming loose so that the leg falls off. Will persevere for a little longer, but will likely try a different model next time.
