What is exactly smell like?

It's not potent it's just a clean smell

Can i put in downy ball?

It’s designed to go in the fabric softener dispenser in your washer if you have one. I’ve never used the ball because I have the dispenser and I put it in at the beginning of the cycle. You can google it to see if that’s ok to do.
