Action thriller written and directed by Teddy Chan. Former martial arts instructor and current prisoner Ha Hou-Mou (Donnie Yen) offers to help the police force in their hunt for a mysterious serial killer targeting martial arts masters and quickly surmises that the killer is working his way through masters who he believes are weaker than himself. Ha returns home to learn more of the secret weapon known as the moon shadow which is being left at the crime scenes by the suspect, an action that makes the police believe he is in league with the killer. Meanwhile, things get even worse for Ha when the woman he loves is targeted, forcing him to make some difficult decisions about his relationship with the martial arts code.

Amazing donnie yen
This film was outstanding , after I sat down with a cup of tea and a biscuit , five minutes into it I was only concentrating on only the film, so much so my phone made me jump.Where do I start, Donnie Yen as always had a very good role, his technique is perfected! The fight scenes with Donnie were spectacular. The story line I would give an 8/10 and for a while I thought I had the story line figured and then there was a twist. Everybody did well in character.I would recommend this film to anyone who loves a great action film with donnie yen and great fight scenesFast postage and packaging from zoverstock.Happy , happy , happy

Realistic martial arts performance that worth watching
Martial arts scenes in the movie are amazing, all very realistic, except maybe one with swords. The story fits well and actor play is excellent.Whilst I know people have mixed feeling about 'the birth of dragon', in my opinion it is a good movie and this movie is at that movie quality.

Pure excellence
3.5 out of 5. ANY film with Donnie Yen is always spectacular and magnificent whatever the plot. Brilliant and artistic choreography from start to finish with excellent actors. Exciting, action packed. Just a shame there isn't an English dubbed option/version like many other martial arts films. DONNIE YEN IS A TRUE MASTER! But film not in English audio even though Amazon's description/details says it is, hence 1.5 stars deducted from my review.

Superb fight scenes & a decent story line.
I wasnt sure what to expect from this movie as I had read nothing about it but I like the other Donnie Yen films I have seen. No spoilers from me, I will just say if you like martial arts films with a decent story line and great fight scenes you will not be disapointed by this movie.

Great
Loved it. I am a martial arts fan as well as a donnie yen fan. I admit some parts of the story could be explained in more detail but i loved the fight scenes and the story line was pretty good from my opinion. Would recommend.

Styles over substance
Donnie Yen is released from prison and kept under the close scrutiny of the police after it appears he is the only man living in planet China who can help them stop an ultra dangerous serial killer, who's going around beating to death all the expert kung fu fighters in the land.Soon it transpires that not only is this self styled kung fu killer challenging and murdering all the top guys in their own field of kung fu expertise, but it also seems like he has a personal vendetta against hard nut Donnie; which as anyone who watches his movies can tell you, is a rather stupid thing to have...I enjoyed Kung Fu Killer, but I have to say not quite as much as some of Donnie's other modern day, police urban beat em ups, of recent times.First off the story could have been an absolute belter, but is unfortunately let down by having little to it after it's initial intrigue, other than a few high octane chases/scraps, as it quickly runs out of ideas early on.The fights are plentiful, as you would imagine, but again I found them a little disappointing due to an over indulgence on cgi and wire work (I've never been a fan of these elements in martial arts movies), which I felt detracted from the showdowns, compared to if they had been purely 'old school' in their delivery.Of course Donnie gives another, ever youthful, super energetic performance, and as is customary for his films, the violence is bone crunching and the energy levels ramped right up.But sadly I thought Kung Fu Killer, overall, didn't make enough of it's potential...My question of course, having been a fan of Yen's movies since the very early 90s is, does this guy have a picture portrait of himself kept in his attic that ages with every fight scene, so that Donnie doesn't have to?I swear the guy has barely changed in 25 years??!The UK Blu Ray disc (signature entertainment) has zero extras and I found the subtitles were a little viewer unfriendly, being too small and too white. Still readable though, just.3.75/5
