4 Stars
I'm one of those strange people who likes this better than the original. Not just because it's in actual color and not weirdly colorized like some old movies. Mostly I think the gambit they use in the trial is a lot better in this version. It is still a little corny and I'm not sure why everyone still dresses like it's the 40s in 1994.

Mara Wilson Is Terrific
It is difficult to believe that a "new" version of the original "Miracle on 34th Street" is now 27 years old. It still seems like a recent remake. The story reveals cultural changes that were appropriate for a film made in 1994. It is interesting to contemplate what changes a 2021 version would present. Much of the social and cultural and electronic environment has changed since 1994. The movie stands on its own as a Christmas delight. The cast is excellent and Mara Wilson is endearing in the role originally created by Natalie Wood. I have the original version in both its original black-and-white as well as a color edition. I prefer the the classic black-and-white 1940s version. The colorful remake has a lot of beauty in the settings and costumes. There is not a question of which film to watch. Both deserve to be viewed during the holiday season and around the year for a "feel good" need on an off day. The bargain price is a further reason for purchasing this 1994 remake.

"modern" take of the orginal.
One of my favorite Christmas movies. I still like the original best but this one is really good too.

Zesty And Fun - A Modern Version Of The Classic!
MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET (1994) is an updated version of a classic film that has a lot of heart but not quite the charm of the original. Definitely a good Holiday film for the whole family, it has a certain message for kids to keep the Christmas Spirit and ideology alive.Directed by Les Mayfield (Encino Man, Flubber) it tells the tale of Santa Clause being set up for failure. Does and or should the world believe in him. Thanks to the efforts of a small non-believing girl...the magic of the season prevails!Starring Sir Richard Attenburough (Jurassic Park, Hamlet) as Father Christmas himself, he is left with wits and efforts of lawyer Dylon Mcdermott (The Practice, Twister, Steel Magnolias) to save his life and gain him his freedom before Christmas. The skeptic, Elizabeth Perkins (Cats & Dogs, The Flintsones) who plays the department store promotions manager who hires and then has to fire Santa himself becomes a tough cookie for her daughter, played by Mara Wilson (Mrs. Doubtfire, Matilda), to convince he IS real. This also has a great final performance of the late J.T. Walsh (Pleasantville, A Few Good Men) and as the judge who must decide the fate of Santa, Robert Prosky (Mrs. Doubtfire, The Chamber) gives a phenomenal performance for his small role.A great Holiday film for the whole family to watch. Give it a chance - it may bring some Christmas Spirit into your day! (1-2-03)

Loved it!
Had this years ago in VHS format. This Blu-ray version is so much clearer. Also came with just a DVD disk that I will pass along to the little ones in my family. Very happy with this purchase!

A classic I finally watched
This is a film that I remember coming out and being raved about by everyone but despite that I never got around to watching it so after asking around for Christmas film suggestions this was one that got mentioned a lot so I decided to finally watch. The film has so much that works as a Christmas film but I found it to be quite a boring and slow film whilst also finding the child to be annoying rather than adorable. I can see why people like it as it has everything to give the feels but I didn't enjoy it as much as I had hoped I would based on the rave reviews and recommendations I got from so many people.

The best Christmas film available, good memories watching this as a kid, lovely film for the whole family to enjoy and cheap to
This film brings back so many memories and it makes me feel like a kid all over again. This one is the modern one (1994) of the old black and white original Miracle on 34th Street (1947). I recommend this one over the old 1947 original release as this is on DVD, in colour and younger children would probably hate the original 1947 (black and white) one if it's even still available to buy but children will love this and adults to!!Good memories of this film. All i'm going to say is buy it, there's no point in me telling you about the film incase you've not seen this film before. So to not disappoint all i'm going to says is, it's a lovely Christmas film for the family to watch and definitely makes your heart warm up and put you in the Christmas mood. It's cheap to buy and beats any modern Christmas film for sure.

Magical and heartwarming
About the magic of believing and the idea that dreams can come true... especially at Christmas.Susan has been brought up with her mother not to believe in Father Christmas, her Mum doesn't think her daughter should be lied to as she will be disappointed when she finds out the 'truth'. Susan seems confused and torn between her own childlike desire to believe and her mother's cynicism until a Father Christmas employed by the store claims to be the real thing. Can her mum suspend her doubts? Can believing in magic really make dreams come true at Christmas? Can Susan get the family she dreams of?Beautiful, one to smuggle up on the sofa and watch every Christmas. Relive Christmas as a child and the magic of believing.

BUY BOTH THIS AND THE ORIGINAL
As remake go this is handled with great care and love and does not move far away from the original not sure it need the Picture of Santa with his pants down though after all this is a film for everyone and a shame that they felt it necessary to include this, and also preferred the story in the original that Santa was giving to the Hospital for Machinery rather than the story of big bonus for the staff, guess the world has moved on since the original but a very very good film and I would recommend that you buy both you would not be dissapointed
