Updated review
Nice looking product and a good small size suited to a windowsill or shelf.Seems to be working well and is simple to setup and use. The design is clean looking, attractive even, as much you can expect from plastic. Light seems sturdy and well made. A few sharp edges and flash on the edge of the pot had to be removed. It is expensive for what it is, for me if it was in the £40 region it would be 5 stars but £70 is a lot of money for a plastic planter and a light.Update after a month + of use.So i've been using this since it arrived and with longer term use I have a few issues popping up that have reduced score and convenience for me.Following the guide and sowing seeds resulted in just 1 seedling, literally only 1 came up, for some reason. maybe the seeds were not germinated or the soil is too wet? Based on my experience it seems better for established plants and not good for using with the grid and seeds. Seedlings as a minimum I would say.The light is indeed great and that one seedling has grown quite fast and nicely. It has big healthy leaves. The intelligent watering system just seems to be cotton tubes at the edges that wick water up. This results in the perlite being very wet indeed. This has resulted in ovious mould and green algae (Im guessing) growing on the surface of the soil. Support from the company was good and quick they suggested removing it from the water and allowing it to dry. I seem to have to do this rather a lot which makes me just wish it was a poy stand with a light on so I could use my own pots. I also can't not use water and just use the light as this results in an alarm going off which can't be turned off without disabling the light too.Overall I still like this but its creating lots of problems to deal with I just never had with a regular pot and soil. can't help but feel this isn't suited to chillis really which dont like sitting in lots of water Im currently growing some seedlings in a propagator to try out in the empty pot where the seeds didn't take. It would be better as a pot stand with light and probably more useful then too.Edit 2: The seeds that have come up have grown at a terrific pace, visibly different each day. Now the plants are taking more water and it's hotter the mold and algae seems to have lessened. I do genuinely think for seedlings this will be great. The chilli plant is visibly taller each day and has roots coming from the bootm of the pots now as it seeks water.Edit 3: As my plants got bigger the mould and algae problem has reduced as the plant drinks more water. The growth has been amazing on the plants but it has quickly outgrown the light (amazing). Recommend nipping the plants growths to encourage them to grow outwards and not upwards :D Very pleased with the effect the light has had.

Seed Pantry Grow Pod 2 Plus Grow PackIn the box.The seed growing bo0x with led lighting and mains cable. Also, in included was two growing packs (other are available on Amazon).Concept.This uses special prepared growing media and has built in lighting so it can be used indoors. The unit holds two germination pots.Build quality. It is very well made and designed and will last a very long time even with content use.Using.You put the growing medium into the pots and add seeds. Add water and turn on the light. The whole system is easy to use. The growing system is optimised for fast and reliable results.Results.Using the supplied media and following the instructions to the letter we germinated chilli seeds in record time. The plants also developed about 25% faster than using the potting method we usually use. Also, the chillies developed much faster and cut down waiting tin by about 3 weeks so it does work rather well. We have also tried it with cherry tomatoes with equally fast results. The fruit and vegetables produced state very nice and I can recommend the cherry tomatoes, they have such an intense sweet flavour compared to shop bought ones.Overall.,#The unit and growing media is expensive but the results are fast abend of the highest quality, this is an excellent concept and unit and can recommend it despite what I consider is a high price for it. It is fun to use and the results are great. It is also an excellent teaching aid for using in schools when showing how plants grow and what they require to grow optimally. I like the unit very much but wish it was a bit cheaper. On balance I am glad I have tried one and will continue to use it to bring on many of my plants.

Expensive for what you get
I think this is generally an interesting idea, with a couple of small problems. The first and most obvious is if you have this out in the open, then all the dust, aerosols, pethairs etc that are in the normal airflow are going to get on your herbs. You are going to have to give them a good wash before eating, so I can't see these being any more hygienic then farm-grown ones. Next is the price; the unit itself is usually 60-70 pounds which for me is prohibitive. Obviously this is a one-time investment as you can get the consumables separately, but it's still a lot to spend on a device like this. I see the main attraction of this unit as it's 'experimental' aspect, especially for those with no garden or access to a growing area. Mix up different seeds, see what grows first, alter the nutrients. All that is good fun and great for kids interested in science. For someone interested in getting the freshed and best herbs this really won't grow enough to satisfy your culinary needs. Overall an interesting but overpriced product.

A real education
My daughters have taken this into their primary school a part of a nature project and how plants / seeds grow. They followed the instructions to the letter and no one (including the teacher) could believe how fast this device gets seeds to propagate. When (italics) it comes home it's going to live on our kitchen window ledge and will hopefully supply is with an almost endless, fst growing, super-tasty herbs and mini-chilli peppers.Really recommended as a clean, quick alternative to tradition (slow, dirty?) methods
