Bought this book for my Grandson. He likes a variety of books, and Lyle appears in several fun stories. I get books for my Littles because reading to them at any age inreases their language skills, vocabulary, and attention span. The one on one time with a child while reading together is also of immeasurable value to them. Children need much less screen time and much more reading time.

My children grew up with all the Lyle the Crocodile books, and they thoroughly enjoyed them. I enjoyed reading the books to them as well. We still quote lines from the books to each other. They are delightful stories. When our first grandchild was born we bought the Lyle books to help her parents begin their library of good books. The stories have staying power. You won’t mind reading them over and over again.

This book took me by surprise when I was reading it to my almost 3 year old, Turns out it's all about a lady who hates Lyle! It has the words 'I hate you'' and 'I hate you more than anything' 'signed your enemy' etc, etc, over and over! I don't want my daughter learning those words and phrases, especially directed towards other people. In the end the lady likes Lyle because he saves her. How does that make her behavior ok?My girl loves the other Lyle books, and we were both excited to get a new one. I had to stop reading it..

This Lyle book is one of my 6 year old grandson's favorites. I was very interested in reading the few negative reviews because otherwise you are preaching to the converted. I never thought it would inspire a child to copy the behavior of Clover Sue Hipple. On the contrary, I thought it showed how a hateful bullying message could hurt a loving person (in this case a crocodile) & how terribly wrong it was . The way Lyle & Mrs. Primm handled it was also a good lesson. I am always interested in the intelligent (most are) opinions of those who disagree with me.

My son and I LOVE Lyle. He’s 4.5 and the first time i read the books to him he was a bit confused but after a second time he couldn’t get enough! Classic books and great for all ages !

This profoundly silly book confronts bigotry in a child-friendly way with much humor. While adults (including me initially) may worry about a crocodile hero that rescues drowning people sending a dangerous message to children, experience has taught me that even children as young as three or four find this concept fall out the chair laughing hilarious.
