Excellent lightweight pruning saw – perfect for yard work I’ve been using the DEWALT 20V MAX 8-inch Brushless Cordless Pruning Chainsaw (DCCS623) for several months now on regular property maintenance, and it’s become one of my favorite tools in the 20V lineup. What it does well This little saw punches well above its size. The brushless motor has plenty of power for an 8-inch bar. It slices cleanly through 3–5 inch branches and handles up to about 6–7 inch limbs without bogging down when the chain is sharp and properly tensioned. It’s excellent for: Pruning trees and shrubs Clearing downed limbs Cutting brush and small firewood Working in tight spots where a full-size chainsaw is overkill At only 4.6 lbs (tool only) and roughly 8–8.5 lbs with a battery, it’s dramatically easier to handle than a gas saw or even DEWALT’s larger cordless chainsaws. The compact size and low weight make overhead work and ladder work much less tiring. The integrated tip guard is a nice touch for controlled upcuts and helps keep the tip from digging into the ground when you’re working low. Features I appreciate Auto-oiling system (just keep the reservoir filled) Onboard wrench for quick chain tensioning Smooth, low-vibration operation Compatible with the entire 20V MAX battery system (I run it mostly on 4Ah and 5Ah packs) DEWALT claims up to 70 cuts on 4x4 pressure-treated pine with a 3Ah battery, and that lines up with real-world use for typical pruning sessions. With a higher-capacity battery you can easily get through a solid afternoon of yard work. Minor notes Like many mini chainsaws, it can weep a little bar oil if stored on its side — store it upright or on a tray and it’s a non-issue. It’s also safest and most comfortable used with two hands. This is a pruning/limb saw, not a replacement for a full-size chainsaw if you’re felling trees or cutting large diameter wood all day.Bottom line If you’re already in the DEWALT 20V system and need a lightweight, powerful, low-fatigue tool for pruning and general yard cleanup, this is an outstanding choice. It feels well-built, cuts efficiently, and makes jobs that used to be a chore much quicker and less exhausting. Highly recommended.

Small but powerful. Once I got accustomed to using a chain saw with one hand, the DeWalt is very a effective tool capable of cutting larger branches than I originally anticipated. The battery seems small but I get well over 100 cuts on battery. I don't know how many cuts it will make on a fully charged battery because I've finished my work before it ran out of juice. The only niggle is the safety switch which I feel is too small creating bit of pain until a callous formed. The build quality is superb and it I feel it will will last a long time. DeWalt tools have never failed me. One little tip. Use Olive oil to lubricate the saw. I bought "organic" chain oil and when I smelled it, it was actually live oil. I've been using olive oil extensively on my 5 acre property and I works great and saves money.

Amazing what it will cut and the battery last a long time. Very handy to keep in your atv whenever you on your property.

Highly recommend this chainsaw. It is a workhorse. Lightweight, easy to maintain. Versatile. Great value for the projects I have done including removing branches of 6 inch diameter & greater.

Great thing about this saw is its utility in lopping off smaller branches and saplings that you don't want to have to lug a heavier, larger chainsaw to cut. Had an issue where the screws on the anti-kickback safety gizmo at the end of the bar came loose and flew off. Contacted customer service, which promptly answered and ordered a new part at no cost to me. Much appreciated. Good to buy products made in USA, wish Amazon always included country of origin in product listings and not just occasionally. Would get five stars except for that issue and that it's higher priced than other products of similar size.

Thank You Dewalt for making this TOOL; it is a TOOL not a toy with the solid build quality of a real chainsaw. The weight and maneuverability make topping the branches of a fallen tree a pleasure where the fatigue factor is greatly reduced. The light weight frees you other hand for all kinds of necessary maneuvers - The 6.0 AH battery even makes the balance better, and you are still around 5 pounds. The safety button is not an issue for me, and I don't know why other reviews said it was awkward. Maybe they fixed it since those early reviews. My oil tank does not leak, and that was a complaint on other reviews. The additional chains are affordable and tightening the chain works like a traditional chainsaw. This is the perfect tool for formerly exhausting tasks with a heavy chainsaw. This is worth every penny for tasks that wear you out with a heavy and loud chainsaw that you have to constantly stop and restart on the tasks that are not big saw territory- I wish I had bought this sooner, and I could not be more pleased with the performance, price, and build quality- Now that I am in love with the perfect tool, I can quit searching for the perfect woman.

You need to start the chain moving before you touch the wood. Oiler doesn’t seem to work very well- check and clean opening before you start cutting.

Great for what it is. Small portable not too heavy cuts through decent sized branches and logs. Oil definitely leaks as others have said so don't leave full, empty after use. Best one of its size I've tried.
