Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, the 10-piece musical collective from California best known for their singles ‘Man On Fire’ and the platinum selling ‘Home’, is back with their fourth album PersonA. “We’ve been on for a while now,” frontman Alex Ebert wrote on a Facebook post when they released first track ‘Hot Coals’. “But it’s like we just turned on a new page in the old book with the inscription: serve your power and work beyond reason.” Recording the music almost entirely in one room together in New Orleans, their approach was a far cry from the come-one-come-all production of their previous albums. This is the first where the band contributed on the majority of the song writing while they maintained their DIY mentality. The ever-evolving group also had to deal with the departure of vocalist Jade Castrinos in 2014. “We had long been a social experiment first and musicians second. Over time, though, we were emerging, by virtue of hours spent, into a group of musicians who could really play together. When Jade left, that confirmed our new fate - music first. We seem to be done for now with distractions from the music itself, the bones of it,” says Ebert.

More Reflective
Edward Sharp and the Magnetic Zeros are an Indie/Folk band from Los Angeles led by lead singer Alex Ebert.Normally known for their upbeat recordings, the Zeros on "PersonA" find themselves in a more reflective mood, still managing to maintain their psychadelic 60's sound, all be it in a more sombre mood. For me personally, I find this album more accessible than their 3 earlier releases.

in the way that the previous Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros albums were quite brilliant Persona is indescribably awful. Tried to listen to it the second time and couldn't now in the local charity shop.

Amazing! Best album of the band since "Here"
Amazing! Best album of the band since "Here". I've given 4 out of 5, but I believe it will grow on my mind. Very mature sound! Ecletic and vibrant! Happy tunes, sad tunes, crazy tunes. Glampses of the beatles, nina simone and psychadelic pop.

An awesome 4th album.
Their 4th studio album... and what a masterpiece. Possibly their finest yet? Brilliantly recorded and highly original, but still keeps that classic Edward Sharpe sound. Who said that modern music couldn't match the past (or, dare I say it, surpass it..)?

Gran compra

orle an jazz atmosphere
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zerosの4作目。

I love their other albums and Alexander's solo work so I ...
I'm hoping this grows on me, but so far I am not very fond of it. There are a few decent songs but most of it is just monotonous. I love their other albums and Alexander's solo work so I was very excited to get this. I'll keep trying but so far every time I put it on I find myself wanting to skip songs and eventually just take it off and put on something else!

You either like Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros
I'm not going to comment on the music. You either like Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, or you don't. I am commenting on the sonic quality of the record. This album is recorded well and has an extremely wide sound.

a true disappointment
Ugh. I loved previous albums from Ed Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros so I bought this one without listening to any of the cuts. There is not a single song on this album that I like at all. I will take it to a thrift shop.
