I purchased a hi-que for my large BGE quite awhile ago because the standard bottom grate would get clogged with ash and smaller pieces of charcal, which impacts airflow. I noticed an improvement in time to heat up and just general heat control after installing the hi-que grate. The only negative is, you do lose some charcoal as the smaller pieces slip through it (which you can remove with the ash tool), but this is a worthwhile tradeoff for better airflow in my opinion.When I purchased a mini, I ordered the small/mini high-que before I even took delivery of the egg, so installed it before the first cook. It works well and the mini comes up to temp quickly and efficiency. I will admit though, since I never used the standard bottom grate on the mini, I can't really objectively compare the two, but based on my experience with the large (where I have used both), I still feel this is a worthwhile upgrade. It certainly hasn't given me any reasons to switch back to the standard grate.

Bought this to replace the original fire grate in my small BGE, which split into pieces after a few hundred uses. This grate lets the coals burn hotter (and faster) and allows for better temperature control using the damper. Only downside is some of the smaller lumps can fall through so you want to keep the trap clear of ash. So buy it now, or buy it later but don't buy the OEM version.

Very solid construction. Fits the now discontinued medium grilldome with 15" top well. Hopefully not so tight that expansion cracks the firebox in first use but since it wasn't made for it, I can't complain about that. But i don't think it will. There is a small gap that should protect it. But if you have the big green egg it is made for, I think it will be a fantastic upgrade and would fit perfect.

This charcoal grate has really improved the airflow in my green egg. The grill gets up to temperature much quicker and is easier to clean out. If you own a BGE then I think this product is a must have. I have one for every size egg I own. Highly recommend!

I have had a real problem with smaller pots tipping over on my stovetop range. I bought this to place on top of the larger grill pattern for my gas range. I just placed this on top of the too large opening, and hey presto, my pots will not tip over, now.

Hands down the best BGE upgrades you can get, especially for smaller Eggs. I have a large and a small Egg. The small Egg was a pain to use before this upgrade. The fire burns so much better, especially for longer cooks.

you gotta get one for the mini egg! fire starts quick because for air flow. save time and no clogs

I love my Green Eggs and have worn out the cast iron fire grates. This design works much better than the original with greater air flow and allows the fine ash to drop below for cleaning. Highly recommend.
