Very "Cool" accessory for your iPod / iPhone
First, for the price (under $60) -- don't expect your iPod or iPhone to sound like a Bose Soundwave (costing six times more. That said, compared with units in this price range (discounted) -- you'll like the unit.It is very attractive. Mine is glass black with the two "bulbs" facing down over the dual speakers. There is what is called a "Human Touch" bar in the front that functions all source requirements of the iPod I am using. The blue "lights" look just great and, no, they aren't dimmable. They aren't overly bright and work as a perfect nightlight. Soundwise, these sound good. Limited stereo "separation" as the speakers are only a few inches apart, but for the size -- room-filling and very clean. Nice bass, clean mids and not overly "brittle" highs. A nice mix from the unit. The white remote control DOES, in it's new incarnation, allow the lights to be turned off with the "LED" button. The lights may be turned off from the rear of the unit as well. When activated, the LED "touch buttons" on the front blink on each button being pressed, in adjusting volume up or down or track change. The remote works just fine, It's just ... white. It does have a plug-in adapter provided which works well. The box, however, says that it takes batteries. On the unit I have, there are a pair of "notches" in the bottom of the unit that look like 4 AA batteries could fit ... but while I can move the tabs -- the panel doesn't open, so, I don't know if it takes batteries or not. It doesn't matter to me. I was looking for a unit to charge my iPod overnight and to play some tunes while drifting off to sleep.I love the unit. The service on getting it delivered was quick and without problem. The packaging is good. It will make a neat holiday gift, to be sure -- and it sounds good, too! There is an "input" jack (3.55mm) that accommodates other units and a cord is provided for such use, say, from a TV to the unit. You can play tunes with the lights off, but not with the headphones. But it does charge and play at the same time. The remote works well and comes with a battery installed. The connector dock seems very well installed to accommodate any size iPod. Not so sure about that with cases left intact, but my Nano 5g with a hard case works just fine. The connector seems strong enough for the Nano, for sure. iPod Touch, too. Not sure about iPhone or Classic iPod. I'd think it would work and seat well with a iPod Touch and maybe a Classic, but not sure on the Classic because of it's size. I didn't need inserts.I use the ICrystal dock from Speakal regularly and like it a lot!Nice touch to a room decor. You'll like it! Enjoy!

Better than I expected
I just have to say that after reading all the reviews before buying this product I was most concerned about the lights. Everywhere I searched people complained that the lights never turn off. Although that really stopped me from buying the product immediately, I kept coming back to it and in the end I decided whatever, it'll make a great night light so I bought it. It arrived within the week which was awesome because I had standard shipping and it arrived super fast.It was small and ADORABLE and the lights were awesome. And guess what? They TURN OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I don't know if it is a new adjustment the company made but the lights turn off via the remote by using the LED button. Also, with the switch on the back. The remote is awesome that it allows you to navigate through your itouch perfectly! I love it!You will NOT regret this if you buy it!! BUY IT!!! The sound is amazing and not scratchy at all and aahhhh I LOVE IT!I guess the one negative is that the remote is white despite the fact that I bought the black model but I don't really care. It's too awesome to complain about the remote color!

Unique Looking, Average Sound, Cheap Build Quality
I have an iLuv white clock radio iPod player that finally gave out after 7 years of service. So I went looking for a replacement and gave these a shot.I use the device in my kitchen - which is primarily 'boring white in color scheme' so these fit well. The device is really small and the egg-like nature of the speakers seems to fit nicely into the kitchen theme. A couple of things to note:*The blue lights are actually neat and somewhat soothing and you can turn them off and leave the device on*The remote has a surprising number of functions, much more so than many of the other iPod dock systems out there*The sound quality is just average - there are no port holes for the speakers and if you go beyond mid-range volume - sound becomes distorted quickly - my iLuv had much better sound and much bigger speakers while still maintaining a small form factor*The item is made of very cheap plastic, and I feel like it may break if I handle it too much - luckily it doesn't move very often*The speakers themselves are exposed - so be careful not to have anything sharp near the device as you may tear the speaker membrane*The power cord and plug are black and don't match any other item on the device.Overall - it is an ok device. Unique looking and ok sound at low to medium volumes. I do think it is a bit overpriced for what you get, but many of these devices are.

Faulty workmanship
Looks good and sounds good at first glance. The battery compartment on the first one was glued shut from the inside and there where no "guts" for batteries in it. Got the second one today. Same thing. Returning. The sound is fine and it looks sharp, but why have a compartment that isn't usable. Makes me suspect the whole product.

Best value out there, especially as gift for kids
I was looking to purchase an iHome for my little cousin, and this seemed like the best bargain. It was right up there in price with some of the other models, but I was a little bit worried it would not live up to the quality. From what I've seen, it does live up to the price tag. My little cousin absolutely loves the look and feel of the iHome, but then again, she would have liked anything that would play her music. It wasn't until I walked into the room with the speakers playing that I realized it was quite a good buy.The speakers play well. It sounds pretty good for its size.Obviously there are no BOSE speakers, but they're good quality. The remote control makes it easy to control the speakers from across the room.If you're considering buying this as a gift for a child, it's DEFINITELY the right play. If it's for yourself or another adult, understand that the sound won't blow you away, but it projects pretty respectably and is an overall good device.

To cheap looking
Thought it was cool by looking at it. But a little to cheap looking. The sound was good. But you have to charge them. There is room for improvement with these.
