About the Author My very first memory of life was the sound of my mother's glorious voice singing to me, most likely a Brahms lullaby, and I'm convinced that is why music always has a delicious way of creeping into my writing and becomes one of the most important elements. I spent twenty years in Europe because of my father, who was with the U.S. Diplomatic Corps, and my mother who was an opera singer. I worked mainly as a simultaneous interpreter and translator as I am a linguist and speak several languages, five of which are fluent. I also worked in the travel/airline and music industries and I have incorporated some of my adventures in TRAVEL TALES, my short travel stories series. Because of my exposure to people of different nations my writing includes many foreign settings and cultures. I am a proud mother of a gallant Marine who served in Iraq, and among the members of our household you will find Louie the cat (aka King Louie), so named because of his clawing love of Louis XV and XVI furniture, and surely thinks he must have been a king in one of his former lives. I write about romance, suspense and thrillers in different genres: Contemporary, historical and military. I demand of myself to be accurate in my research and to produce the best work possible. I hope that my books are entertaining, perhaps enlightening and informative. I want my readers to enjoy the time we spend 'together', and that my characters are just as alive as they are to me, even when the last page is turned. In addition to fiction I have published a photo book, 'Around the World in 80 Quotes on Photos', and 'Travel Tales', short adventure stories from different places around the globe. "Isabel Allende, Paulo Coelho, Denise Kahn. What do they have in common? They are all amazing writers and storytellers with a touch of mysticism...Denise Kahn's 'Split-Second Lifetime', like 'House of Spirits' and 'the Alchemist', is bound to become a classic." 'Split-Second Lifetime' is an International Bestseller in ten countries. iTunes has ranked 'Peace of Music' #1 in their TOP BOOKS. Thank you for your interest and for reading! Movie rights agreed yet?
Well to be truthful, I read this book some months ago and never quite got around to writing a review. What I remember about it is that I thought it would make a very good action movie. As with a lot of good stories, there are things that we read about in the main characters' lives that eventually crop up much later and, in this case, it's a life threatening situation that develops at a public event that could result in a major tragedy. How will the hero prevent it happening? You'll have to read it for yourself.I learned a lot about native Americans, New Mexico (which I've only ever stepped in about one square metre of when I once visited the "Four Corners") as well as the kinds of things American servicemen were faced with in such places as Afghanistan in a very down-to-earth narrative. Well done Denise.

A spider web of stories and twists joined with the incredible power of description
This is probably the longest novel I have ever read on kindle. And the reason I was able to finish this so quickly is because it kept me intrigued all the time. It was like watching a movie for me.The description power of a fiction writer is probably their strongest weapon. And the author of this book has used that weapon very well. The author connects all the dots together and does so in a beautiful way that I as a reader enjoyed till the last word. Now I don't want to spoil it for you. But I can tell you that you will be captured from the very first page when the main character of the novel 'Sean' is about to do something he loves 'Hot Air Ballooning'. And then you will be taken on journey into the past to a beautiful story where the author digs into details about the character, his parents' love, his career as a paratrooper, deployment in Afghanistan and much more. I am telling you there is a lot for you in there. As I said before with the incredible description power, the author takes you on beautiful journey.

Great novel by a gifted author!
The novel captivates the reader from the first page until the last. The characters are powerful, courageous and passionate. I was impressed with the elite Pararescue Jumpers and the fascinating hot air balloons. The author puts all the elements together in a wonderful story that will surely please readers of all genres. There even are some spiritual and metaphysical effects.‘Hot Air’ is not my first book by Denise Kahn, and I am pleased that in each novel she has a unique trademark—she always finds ways to incorporate music. It is amazing that even ‘Hot Air’, which is about an adventurous pilot who finds himself in dangerous situations, that she manages with historical accuracy, to incorporate facts that include music, like the first woman aloft in a hot air balloon was an opera singer!I thoroughly enjoyed this colorful book and highly recommend it!

A Different Terrorism Story
Hot Air is a fresh take on terrorism. Denise Kahn brings a new setting to an all-too-common plot…a hot air balloon. The gritty details add to the story. The characters are rich and believable, and make the reader care about them. The story moves along at a brisk pace, keeping the reader engrossed in the ride.

I was unsure when I got it whether I would enjoy it, how wrong was I
This book had me hooked within the first chapter. I was unsure when I got it whether I would enjoy it, how wrong was I. The story not only covers his love for hot air balloons from his young age but also how he fought for his country. Excellent work. Please don't be put of by the title, give it a go you will be impressed like I was.
