Japanese calligraphy rice paper 100 sheets

I am by no means an expert and it must be 50 years since I studied letters - all the great calligraphers and type designers. I was a letterpress compositor, hand and mechanical. We had to learn about all the different typefaces their designers and usages for the different types. School of Printing and The Art School. Paper is a subject also taught, all the different samples of paper, - wether it is engine sized, tub sized, calendered, super calendered, clay incorporated, grass, and of course rag and wood. This Paper you have sent fails for me to stand up to the very simplest of pen stroke, I note one side smooth verso rough. The ink just is not tight enough and feathered edges occur. I have tried provisionally, a spray fixative BEFORE scribing letters - quite an improvement. I do think hot pressed paper particularly, and any of the smooth sized (engine or tub) papers are far superior. But then Printing ink dries differently to the ink for writing, ie: absorption, chemical reaction, and evaporation, examples. Brushes also show a rough edge - IT NEEDS TO BE SHARP>

I am trying hard to practice - some day in the future I may become good at this type of art. Great experience.
