I've been making sourdough starter and bread for years. I've always used a widemouth pint jar. But I really like this KNEADACE Pro sourdough starter jar. It has a wider mouth. It has a nice stretchy band that has the day and time printed on it. Very handy! I've always just used a rubber band, which couldn't remind me when I started the rise. The little temperature gauge is helpful too - because if it's too cold or too hot you're not going to get the results you want. The lid fits nicely too. I highly recommend this starter kit!

I absolutely love this sourdough starter kit! It’s super beginner-friendly but also great for more experienced bakers. Everything you need comes in one set, and the jar is sturdy, well-designed, and easy to maintain. The instructions are clear, and the starter activates beautifully with just a little patience. Great product. Worked great for my very first bread starter.

When first viewing this jar online I wasn't sure how the temperature plate worked. As my photo shows, the 'leaves' turn a different color indicating your house temp, and helpful to guesstimate rising time of fed starter. The temp plate is actually a sticker which strongly adheres to the glass jar. You adhere the temp sticker yourself. Jar must be hand washed due to that sticker. The black stretchable band is great to keep track of date & time of last feeding. It is marked for Sun-Sat and 6 AM-12-6 PM with shorter vertical lines for unmarked 3 AM-9 AM-3PM-9PM (as seen in same photo). The jar is thick glass making it durable. Comes with a silicone cover that doubles as a bottom gripper besides being the cover for refrigeration. There is also a hand washable stretchable cloth top cover for when your starter is rising in a warm area. And a sturdy, stiff rubber spatula. No recipes were included. This item is very well made and a good value for your money. If it ever broke I would replace it, but I don't see breakage happening. Only disappointment was that it was shipped only in it's original container, not in another box for protection. It was delivered with a sizable gash in one side; however nothing was lost, and glass jar was intact as the top & bottom of jar was packed in sturdy foam. This is the first time ever that Amazon did not ship an item inside another protective box. Perhaps due to XMAS rush or pending strike? I'm new to the sourdough world and was using a canning jar with masking tape and/or a rubber band to mark the starter's level. I'm also an infrequent baker (gotta watch those carbs) and at times I couldn't remember last feeding. So I really like this jar. Think through and read the details first before buying, I wish I had. The jar is large. I don’t bake big batches of sourdough so I’m never going to have that much starter to really use the temperature gauge or need this size jar. Luckily it just fits on the top shelf of my fridge. The spatula is good for stirring but is not thin enough to scrape the sides of the jar. I do like the wide opening of the jar, the cloth cover and rubber base/top, the band to mark when feeding time is nice but not sure I really need it.

I really like this jar and spatula! It makes working with the sourdough starter much more convenient! The spatula is just the right length to easily reach the bottom of the jar and clean off the sides. I read numerous reviews the jar broke or chipped on the edge for them, but I have not had that issue. I am also very careful when I clean it so it doesn’t slip out of my hands. I have used it for approximately a month to six weeks. I do recommend it to my friends when they start sourdough baking.

So far, this has been great. It’s a sturdy glass container with a nice wide opening. The stir stick is great quality with an edge on one side to scrape the starter. I’m currently trying to make my own starter and it’s nice to have the elastic cloth top as well as the plastic top for when my starter finally is active. The band is convenient as it has the days and times. You just line it up so you don’t forget when you fed it last. The thermometer sticker that comes with it is also helpful. My starter has been taking a lot of time, but I think it’s because our house is too cool. If I didn’t have the thermometer sticker, I probably would’ve gotten more frustrated. The jar also shows how many milliliters are currently in the jar and it has a sticker on it that shares how much the jar actually weighs which is super convenient because I forgot to weigh the jar before I started the whole process. Now I will never forget! Overall, this is an excellent starter kit. I feel like it gives you everything you need. Although this is my first time making sourdough, but so far I haven’t felt like I needed anything else. (other than the scale, but I already have one of those.)

A lovely and spacious glass jar- perfectly suited to house your sourdough starter. This kit includes a nice elastic to mark the height of your starter and two lids (one for the fridge and one for the counter). The temperature gauge is a nice addition to help ensure you are on track and the shape of the glass jar makes it easy to clean dried on starter.
