This Douper soft close door stay is REVERSIBLE, which means that you can use it to gently open a drop down door flap. I have 4 such doors in my touring caravan and without this clever device there was a real risk of bruised or even broken toes as the door flaps are merely hinged. With these soft OPEN stays fitted the problem is completely solved. Fitting the Douper stay is really easy - only basic DIY skills and tools required. They come complete with fixing screws and the all important hex key to adjust the tension and the Satin Nickel coating adds the finishing touch of class.

Purchased for a kids toy chest, lid opens upwards. Instructions were ok, could easily print a basic template on the other side of them to assist with marking holes. Measurements in mm would also be nice. Installation was ok until attaching the arms the brackets. They are designed to be interference fit with each other and retained with a small moulded clip. Ok in theory but not in practice. I'm not a small bloke and I struggled to push them home far enough to properly engage and even when I thought I had the clips didn't hold and the arm came off after a few cycles. After much faffing one of the clips broke. During those few cycles of the lid it became apparent that over the last few inches of travel they also allowed the lid to slam. Tightening the mechanism just meant it was almost impossible to shut. Definitely not suitable for a kids toy box or ottoman even if you can overcome the design / manufacturing issue of mounting the arms to the bracket. Others have said the same so I'm kicking myself now. Waste of time and effort.

The hinges are good but did not suit my proposed use as the cabinet had an inch square corner support making operation impossible. That is not a criticism of the product which is sturdy and well made. Forget about the installation instructions; they are just as useless as it is possible to get but if you are are reasonably confident at DIY you should be OK.

I used this pair of stays to hold up the door of a top cupboard above a fridge with hinges on top, stays at the sides. The measurements given for a 90 deg flap are TOTALLY WRONG! It took me ages to figure this out, but the attachment on the cupboard needs to be 160mm from the centre of wood, not 100mm as written. It cannot work as written. I confirmed this by looking at the instructions for a Hafele Duo Stay which is exactly the same sizes and states 160mm. Once in place and the friction joints adjusted with the supplied key, they do work and hold the lid up in any position until I close it. BUT the attachments between the main assembly and the two fixing brackets are very flimsy plastic fitments. My door only weighs about 3 kilos but I would not rely on these holding something heavy.

Reasonably well made and prompt service but the instructions?! Don’t bother with the poor translation just do your own thing. I got the soft close working in the correct direction for my box lid, opened the stay and lid to the desired angle and then fitted it to box and lid. Even the diagram on Amazon’s website would have had the stay close before the lid was closed. The stay holds the lid open, needs force to begin closure and is not a soft close for the last 20cm. I would not buy this product again.

Purchased a TV unit that had a door that would just bang flat on the floor if you didn't hold it. With kids this meant the door would be damaged in no time. Fitted these really quickly and easily and they work a treat, can be adjusted to be stiff enough that you need to pull the door down or altered enough that it lowers it down gently itself. They CAN be used for doors that open up or down, you just need to press the little clip near the centre to then move it past the centre so it gives resistance when opening rather than when closing.

The arm is not the one shown in the instructions. It should not then be a surprise the arm (ie the main part of the product) is not compatible with the fittings supplied. Also, one of the arms had fallen apart. It was in three bits when it was taken out of the packet. This may once have been a good product (deserving of the many good reviews). But product updates have not been for the good and the product I received is rubbish. I will be asking for a refund.

We had a couple of cupboard drawers that opened downwards...putting strain on the hinges...these are ideal. Takes a bit of patience fitting them, there are instructions but it took me a while to figure out exactly where to drill the screw holes, but fairly easy and really sturdy once fitted.

Hands down the best choice for holding up lift cabinets in our travel trailer. My wife and I were getting tired of having to hold the cabinet doors up and only having one hand free to reach in. I found various cheap lift supports in local hardware stores, mostly slide type supports with a large tension screws that were not so easy to use and looked hokey, but then I stumbled on these at Amazon.com. Functional and they look good too. Nice satin nickel finish. Proper hardware for the job that don't look chintzy. Very easy to install and adjust. Once I measured and got one installed the others were easier to do. With the right tension they actually work kind of like a slow-close with our lightweight cabinet doors. These are strong, sturdy supports and I could see some residential applications but use caution with heavier lids. The cabinet doors in our travel trailer are lightweight and easy to support, so I only used one for each. UPDATE: May want to consider adding a small mending plate or brace on the corner of less sturdy doors, the tension added by these supports can cause stress and weaken the corner joint.

Worked great for the toy box my husband built for our daughters. Keeps the heavy solid wood lid up and locked into place and eases shut so no worries about them hitting their head or pinched fingers. My husband said the installation instructions were easy to follow. Great product

Not a soft-close support, and the sellers should remove that phrase from the product title. I bought this for a pair of upward opening cabinet doors, so that's not an issue for me. They provide plenty of support for that (one on each door), and work well with regular soft-close hinges. As many have mentioned, the instructions are useless and in a couple cases flat out wrong. But anybody with reasonable handiness can sort that out. More critical are that the plastic shims and bushings that the arms fit on are also useless. The tabs don't actually snap into the grooves in a way that hold the arms in place. Even if they did do that now, I am not convinced those would last. The arms separate from the pivots after just a couple of open/closes. Seems like a screw attachment like a couple other companies provide would be more robust. I'm going to epoxy the arms onto the plastic shims which may work for a few years (or forever if I do it well). But nobody should expect these things to hold up or work out the box. Other companies offer the same thing for less, with a screw to hold the arms on.

I have returned the item (we tried two separate packages, two different people installing it). Each time, the plastic clip to keep the hinge on the bracket would snap off. super cheap quality but an expensive price! instructions could be better. When we reached out, the seller sent a replacement very quickly. The toy trunk lid is under the weight max for the hinge (as per the amazon description) - but it still was faulty. I would not keep this item as I fear someone getting hurt by the lid falling down/off unexpectedly.
