Edward Seago Oil Landscape Techniques With Miles Fairhurst

I am a lover of Seago's work and jumped at the opportunity to purchase this DVD. Miles Fairhurst informs of one of Seago's limited palette, (I understand that when he painted away from the UK his selection of paints changed to suit the country he was going to), how to prepare MDF for painting along with painting instructions.The DVD is recorded alongside Miles as he paints and instructs on the completing of 4 landscapes; admittedly 2 are on the beach; in the style of Seago. I found it very informative especially since this was the first practical information on Seago's method I had seen or read about. It is, of course, not the full story! I would like to see Miles take this further but if you want a stable first step toward painting in the Seago style - then believe me, this is the place to start.

very intelligent demonstrations..basic no nonsense painting. Miles Fairhursts presentation is perfect, few wise words and lots of artwork.I just love to see a good demonstration from start to finish and here there are four, both plein air and studio demos. This video will have many re-runs on my player. Loved the tones ,the limited pallet and the seemingly effortless brush-strokes. Inspiring.

I have had Seago's book by Ron Ranson for over 15 years and really do admire his work. Miles does a great job of explaining and demonstrating Seago's style. I have found by following this video I too can more easily create oils in the style of Seago.A really great buy for anyone who is interested in the great landscape paintinngs by Seago.George R

If you want to further your landscape painting in oils, this is a no-fuss, informative way of achieving that. I found that I couldn't entirely eradicate my own style from the pictures I did, but then should I want to? However, I did make a leap forward in emulating a style I have long admired, so I'd say my paintings resemble Seago's style without slavish imitation. The DVD helped me a lot.
