Well built fit great very comfortable

I got the Skechers Men's Relment-Pelmo Hiking Boot for the leather the all construction. Leather to prevent the sharp stickers from penetrating the boot and working there way inside. The leather will be tough enough to prevent that from happening. It's leather all around, and there are no gaps with flexible material, which is great as, inevitably, even these small sections would allow the stickers to work their way in. I wear 12 extra wide, and these fit great. They may be a bit warm in the summer desert, but that's a good tradeoff compared to the sharp penetrating stickers. They laced up well and gave me adequate ankle support. The shaft length, or the distance from the top of the heel to the top of the back portion of the boot, is 4.75 inches, which is a good distance for angle support. They are attractive boots, also. The waterproof statement is a bit of enthusiastic marketing, as the boots are only waterproof up to the height of the 1-inch rubber sole. The sides and top, being leather, would sure, repel drops of water, but surely they would not be waterproof walking across a stream, but that's fine for me. The leather is suede or nubuck, a sort of soft fuzzy finish, and because of this, the boots are a dirt magnet. I wore them the first time in the desert, and where they started out brown, they returned beige, the color of desert sand. They were so completely coated with dirt. .

Below is my review after 75 miles of hiking. For context, I've owned these boots for a few months, and all of my hiking was done in the San Tan mountains of Arizona. The trails there are a mixture of hard-packed dirt, rocky sections, sand, and steep rocky inclines with loose sand and gravel (e.g. Goldmine Mountain). Grip: 5/5 At first, looking at the photos in the listing, I wasn't sure about the grip, but the boots have done well on rocky inclines as well as sections with loose sand and gravel. Ventilation/Cooling: Neutral. I hike in Arizona where temps are normally on the warmer side. I haven't really noticed a difference in this category in the different boots I have owned. No complaints. Durability: 4/5 Overall they are holding up well. I'm not concerned about stepping on jagged/spiked rocks as the boots seem to be fairly tough, and the sides and laces are solid. There is a small section where the sole is starting to separate as shown in the photo, which seems premature, but otherwise the boots have been solid. Weight: Neutral. The boots are light and durable at the same time. No complaints. Comfort: 5/5 My goal with hiking boots is to not have to think about them when hiking, whether that means being concerned about durability, or having pinch points that poke into my feet. These boots are very comfortable, and don't hurt my feet at all. Quality: 4.5/5 Other than the small separation noted above, the boots are holding up very well after hiking many rocky trails. The tread and grip are great, and the overall construction of the materials, lace holes and laces appears to be high quality with no issues so far. The bottom line is that I have full confidence in these boots, and if this same model is available when my current boots wear out, I would buy the exact same boots again. Hopefully this information is helpful to others.

I've wore Skechers shoes, boots and flip-flops for years and am rarely disappointed. My husband has an ankle that he's broken more than once and has had surgery on it including pins. He's had a difficult time wearing anything but high work boots but after many years wanted to try more of a hiking type boot. I convinced him to try Skechers and these are the boots he decided to order. He's wore them off and on for a few weeks now and has been impressed with the comfort and support. The quality seems to be really good so hopefully these will hold up as well as my Skechers have.

These are good suggestions for the work place and they’re light weight and comfortable

Update: My initial experience was comfortable, sturdy, and I did a lot of walking in them. Hard to find 13W in this kind of boot. I've tried a few "name" brands but unsatisfied with fit, comfort, or endurance. I've put some miles on this pair and they provided excellent traction and foot protection. General quality is very good for price. I've used similar boots for 50 years. However, eventually serious pain developed in my left outer foot. Thought other cause, but determined the boot had a depressed area in bottom sole that misaligned my bones. Serious rubbing at joint of cuboid and 5th metatarsal produced lasting pain and slow healing. Replacement boots immediately stopped progression of the problem, pain quickly reduced and over a month of wearing new boots, most pain gone. The lining is good, the right boot is good and has no such depression under its lining. But I had to discard my boots. Sadly, the issue arose well after the return period had expired. I suspect this was a flaw in forming the boot and was not caught by any quality control procedure. Aside from the depression causing pain, the boots were good.

I have trouble finding shoes wide enough for my old army feet. These in Extra-Wide are great. Really comfortable. I've been wearing them for about 5 months now, in the snow and all, and they seem to be holding up well.
