One of the most useful books ive used.
this is a really good book; I bought it 3 weeks before my finals (not expecting to learn much, but to have some good summarised info), and it was excellent for this.Especially for histories such as "the red eye, and the painful eye"; which I didnt know much about in terms of history taking and differentials; but this book made it clear, and gave simple information of each differential and how to distinguish it using the history. It also separated acute and chronic differentials, which I found useful. Also, Im a stronger believer that medical books are a waste of time, because the internet has everything you need. But when the information is presented as easily and clearly as it is in this book, I couldnt resist- and I have no regrets.Ive now passed finals, and the only 2 books I used were the oxford handbook and this. (+ ALOT of internetting).

Great book for clinical reasoning.
This is a great book to learn how to clerk patients. Memorise the questions, good for medical school finals. Good for those 'surgical' minded people who just want to get to the point of it and forget the rest, I mean, does it really matter how many dogs the patient has at home if it's a severe asthma exacerbation? I would expect the foundation trainee to know the asthma guidelines and to treat accordingly. A lot of medical school questions are not really useful in real clinical work. Because as a foundation trainee, you'd be doing alot of paperwork and things like inserting cannula's, not making a diagnosis of microscopic polyangiitis. Tells you how much I think about medical school training nowadays.

Brilliant Condition
Despite being used, it was in brilliant condition and could hardly tell it wasn't new. Perhaps on the pricey side for being second hand, but the buyer wrote an honest description of the book and I'm pleased. The book itself is really good and I can imagine it will be really helpful in my studies.

Useful for OSCE revision
This is an excellent book but I think it needs more features to make it a worthwhile purchase as much of the information in the book is available free online. In my opinion, it should include mark schemes, and example histories at the very least.

Great book for medical OSCEs!!
Bought this book to aid my revision for my final OSCE and honestly it was worth it! This book covers a huge range of topics with a good explanation of what is expected in each scenario. I used the website osce-stop which is good but the book i feel provides a greater depth and is well presented. I especially liked the psychiatry section in this book as it lays out all the questions beautifully and makes clear what you need to know! Would recommend it to anyone sitting their OSCEs :)

Excellent book - high yield!
Excellent book! I would recommend to all medical students to buy for your OSCE history stations (especially finals). It covers various presenting complaints, by specialty, as well as differential diagnosis and initial management plans (the stuff you need to know to answer the questions that the examiners ask towards the end of the OSCE station!).

Useful OSCE revision and technique book for undergraduate med students
I have been involved in the construction and modernization of Objective Structured Clinical Exams (OSCE) for postgraduate students for the Membership Exams in Surgery of the Royal Surgical Colleges (MRCS), I was past chairman 2008-2011 of the exam board responsible for the distribution and quality control of this exam. This book on focused history taking for OSCE is useful and well written. It could do with a few more diagrams to illustrate some points. However it would be useful as a revision guide for the undergraduate students and make a good foundation for the MRCS exams later. It would not be useful for postgraduate students. The orthopaedic section is a bit brief and should cover more on joint examinations. Overall its a good value for money book.
