Smash

The Offspring’s breakthrough Smash is a really enjoyable punk album which has plenty of attitude and contains some of the bands best songs. Self Esteem is a really clever and moving song about an abusive relationship. Come out and play is again has really subtle lyrics and I love the Arabian sounding guitar bridge. The Alice in Chains sounding Gotta Get Away is another good one the title tack is quite humorous. The only song I don’t like is the plain stupid Bad Habit but if you’re new to the band this is a good place to start.

Forgot how good they were, lyrics are poetry; similar to Green Day, Weezer etc, but different enough to warrant getting more of their stuff. Like I said -Lyrics = poetryGuitar work = sublimeDrummer = works hardConsistently good apart from the last track. 14 Tracks so good value. In the van CD player all the time.

Great album, grunge, rock, punk genre! Punk lyrics, rock instrument sounds and overall grunge feel. Tracks with attitude in the lyrics! First heard this year's ago, i liked it then and bought it on cassette even though i wasn't too sure about the spacey/echo like/short delay effect on the lead vocal microphone recording but i appreciate this much more now than i did when i bought the tape!

The first one I got looked like a crowd was doing a maxican wave on my turntable and was sent back. The replacement I received was a more subdued Mexican wave. The third was somewhere in between the first two.Can't fault the music or Amazon customer services but the pressing quality is awful, I would advise not to order unless you are willing to send a fair few of them back as fulty.

There are so many great hits from this album, but even the lesser known songs, like genocide, are amazing. Must purchase of you are a fan.

I had this on tape 'back in the day' - I borrowed the CD from a school friend and copied it! 19 odd years later I couldn't resist having another listen and I still remember every word to every song. I like to listen to this in the car, on my own, with the volume up to the max like I did at 15 years old - don't think my 10 week old son would appreciate this just yet! Brings back so many memories!

I got this for after the preschool run...it's all 'twinkle twinkle little star' and row row row your boat' until they get out then...'Come out and Play'! Rock it 90's style.
