ONEIDA AIR SYSTEMS Universal Dust-Free Router Hood

So great to have my porter cable router, not throwing dust and chips all over my shop. This little collector works terrific mated with my shop vac easily and there were zero chips and dust. I would definitely recommend this.

It matched well to my Porter Cable with a straight cutter with a bearing. And also fit perfect with my ShopVac 1 1/2" hose. Maybe I was just lucky with my set up because I can imagine that this contraption wont work with a lot of other router applications. That said, it did collect 99.9% of my dust which was an absolute winner! Only negative thing is that the plastic vac hose mount wasn't strong enough to hold the weight of my hose. I solved this by zip tying the vac hose to the routers power cord for support.

Hmmm... 3 or 4 stars.. I was given this a gift from my wife several years ago and never used it. I'm trying to be more dust conscious so I thought I'd try it while routing rabbets for the back of a cabinet. The hood does a great jobs of collecting the dust, BUT, as this was inside a closed box, the hood kept the router bit from getting anywhere near the corners. Sure I expected to have some small chisel work to square things off, but this was just a bit much. I tried using it without the little hood that extends down, and yes, I could get into the corner as if I had no dust collection, but the efficiency of dust collection, dramatically decreased. I'll give it a 4, as for most applications it will do well, and I'm not sure how to improve it to solve the problem I described.

I bought this to try out with my older model Skil 1830 plunge router and the base fit without any modifications. So far I’ve only used it with. 1/2” rabbet bit and while the fit was tight due to the width of the bit, I managed to get it to work. The dust collection was as most other reviews mentioned, which is around 90%. I was very pleased with the results.

Under ideal conditions it works pretty well but overall it’s a pain. I use it on a Bosch 1617 full size router. Trying to figure out which holes fit the router was the first challenge and the directions weren’t much help. I’m glad I had a centering spacer. I know Bosch makes their own dust collection attachments but they are often twice as expensive and I was trying to save a few bucks.When in use it works pretty well on edge routing after you get the cup installed, but it only fits well around medium/small bit. First use was to cut T&G grooves on cedar fence boards. The wide blade of the bit barely fit inside the cup and collected about 40% of the dust.I’ve used it a bunch since then on multiple style bits with varied results. Anytime I’ve used this without the cup, away from the edge of the board it gets clogged quickly and becomes useless.The most annoying details are it’s size and fragile parts. My router won’t fit back in the case with this attached and I don’t want to spend a bunch of time detaching it and re-attaching it because I use my router daily. As a result my router is floating around my tiny shop.If you plan to do only edge routing or your model router doesn’t have other options available for dust collection, this is better than nothing. Other than that, it’s not the one.

I'm an advanced hobbyist woodworker and have been using my router for many of my projects, specifically for dado cuts and finish work. I've always just dealt with the hassle of cleaning up the dust. Recently, I've become more focused on keeping a clean workshop and avoiding the dust associated with projects. After a search online and going through the Amazon comments, I decided to get this Oneida Router hood. After just weekend of work, I can say unequivocally that this is a great product that delivered exactly what I needed. The installation on my Bosch router was trivial and the hood essentially eliminated the dust generation I have associated with routing. Highly recommended!

Had very high hopes for this, given my great experiences with Oneida's Dust Deputys but this was a total disappointment. First, it is NOT UNIVERSAL, unless you consider a slab of plastic that you have to drill your own holes in Universal. The advert listed my 7 series Porter Cable router as a match but it didn't come close to fitting. Reading the instructions, the fine print says you may have to drill holes in the base to fit your router, which makes it no more universal than buying a blank piece of plexiglass from the local big box store and fabricating your own from scratch. I have another, smaller 690 series Porter Cable router that it did fit so I gave it a test run edge routing 4 laminated table tops. Before starting, I put a fresh bag in my Festool CT26 dust extractor equipped with the Oneida Ultimate Dust Deputy. In they end, there was only a small layer of ultra fine dust inside the vac bag while all the chips and 90% of the dust were on me, the floor, and throughout the shop. Additionally, dragging the vac hose attached to the router was a cumbersome. Bottom line, using this product is awkward, decreases safety, doesn't eliminate the need to wear a respirator, and doesn't reduce the amount of clean-up you will need to do after routing.

I used this when cutting out 66-inch semi-circles from 3/4 inch MDF sheet goods with a 5/16 spiral cut bit. Normally that would produce a lot of dust but this attachment captured almost all of it. TheShallow Chip Cover also worked very well with a round-over bit on the edge. I started with a long 2.5 inch vacuum hose but I felt that was too much weight on the connection between the Dust Dome and the Hose Connect. That connection is pretty delicate and I was afraid it would break. I was more comfortable with a 1.5 inch hose and the smaller shop vac did just as well as the bigger one.

This does not fit the Makita RP2301FC router. The hole pattern is fine. The problem is the dust collection part. It does not fit thru the base. Otherwise this is a really good product.

The merchandise arrived on time. It was as per the seller’s description, as well as per my requirements. The packaging was adequate for transport. The product I had ordered, has proven to be just right for the use intended. My overall experience, with this purchase has been very satisfactory. It is a good product to have available in my woodworking workshop.

I just installed this on my Canadian Tire Maximum router and it works great. I am not sure how long these plastic parts will last with the pressure of the hose always putting a little pressure them.

Great product

In the US this comes with hosing looks like we miss out again, a bit disappointing .
