I was hoping it would have more commentary on the themes and words etc in the play as it was advertised as having additional materials.The book's presentation seemed rather dark and dated for young teanagers to study.I bought it because the pupil I was tutoring was studying it for GCSE.English Literature.

I bought this book for GCSE and it is not the complete text. It is for use in Germany and lots of the original play has been left out. It isn't much use if you need it for the GCSE in Britain. Just so no one else gets caught out like me!

This is one of willy russels best. In 1980s i saw this at liverpool playhouse and now my daughter is doing this for her gcse english. I would like to but her barbara dicksons music of this play or anything associated with it for her to enjoy. The story is sad but it gets one thinking about ethics and emotions and family life and ties.
