A great pop song
Wannabe was the record that made the Spice Girls. Enough said really, it is just a great pop song for a moment in time. I doubt whether anyone will play it in a hundred years time, its not a great classical piece and it isn't even the Beatles either. Just take it as it was intended and enjoy.
