One note: the version in the pictures at time of review indicates there is an RJ11 tester built in, which is not the case, the new model now has USB-C to USB-C test capabilities instead. I ended up making a couple RJ45 to USB adapter boards to be able to test all USB cables (works great), and have RJ45 to RJ11 adapters to test RJ11. One could really make adapters to test any other non-included cables were they inclined to do so, as between the RJ45 and HDMI inputs there are many paths that can be used (eight for RJ45 and 19 for HDMI). Just something to keep in mind. Now on to the review... This will test just about any kind of cable found in the home and/or home studio, and it does a wonderful job. The best part for me is that you can detach the two units and test cables in place, not having to pull them from installed positions. This to me is worth the cost premium over the other two units, because I have many (TRS and MIDI) cables in place and wanted to be able to test them without removal should I have an issue, and for that it works great. Luckily I have not had to use it for troubleshooting yet, but have tested some cables before implementing in my setup and it did the job wonderfully.

If you do lighting or video, you need this guy. Most cable testers only do audio cables. I'm a lighting guy and this has saved a lot of room set ups from busted cables. It's more than worth the price. Easy to use as long as you remember to pop a battery in first. Lights up well to tell you your cables are good/crap. If you do gav/utility, prepare to be everyone's new best friend.

Would highly recommend choosing a different brand. I've bought two of these for my company/staff and now they both have diode problems and the manufacturer offers no warranty nor do they seem like they are willing to replace beyond the initial 30 days based on their warranty status. As stated, spend your money on something cheaper or more expensive, whatever you do - don't waste your money on this brand and cheap build quality that will not last longer than 90 days in light to medium. Happy to change my mind with some great customer service

If you buy the "Detachable" "Separate Working Mode" version of this product, it's not easy to find a soft case that fits well. This unit would not survive well just tossed in a gig bag. I recommend the "NOCO GC040 Universal EVA Protection Case", which is actually sold for small battery chargers, but fits this unit quite nicely, with room left for small cable adapters and spare batteries.
