Although the playing is superlative, this sounds like more of a slapdash effort than I would have liked.

I love Oscar Peterson's music. I have many of his CDs, and am glad to add this one to my collection. I could listen to Oscar Peterson all day!

It took a few years before I discovered this album but it has proved to be the most played in our home during the festive season. The musicians are in total accord and play with a most relaxed approach.Oscar was recovering after a hefty illness but you'd never guess so, listening to this disc. Six soloists plus a string group combine well. Rick Wilkins leads his own arrangements. Beautifully scored, just enough backing without becoming schmaltzy! Recorded in Canada in 1995 the studio quality is first-class and serves its actors well. Highly recommended

As a Baby Boomer I grew up listening to jazz my father played and enjoy listening to the albums I inherited. I am so happy listening to the relaxing Christmas music played by Oscar Peterson putting me in a nostalgic mood remembering the holiday with my family years ago. I purchased this CD to give my brother as a Christmas gift to share the spirit across the miles.

The best jazz instead Christmas album I've ever heard. Captures the season beautifully. A must have for any collector.

This CD hardly needs another 5-star review but it's going to get one anyway :) So if you're still wondering if you're going to like this CD --* You like Oscar Peterson? Buy it and enjoy. He's in fine form, laid-back and respectful of the tunes but not slaved to the sheet music.* You like cool jazz? Good heavens why are you reading this, surely you already own this one! No? Well then, you need to fix that right now!* You like Christmas music? Get it. Don't let the jazz category scare you away. Sure, Oscar isn't going to play every note exactly as you've always heard it, but there's never a note out of place and this is music he respects and likes, too. His laid back style on this CD just fits so well that its a CD I love and my 80-year-old Mom likes and she's no fan of jazz.Bottom line is that this is wonderful music played by a legend on piano. Get it and enjoy.

This is a fantastic collection of Christmas songs and beautifully represents the artist. He makes the songs his without losing any of the original flavor. Nothing hokey, not background music, genuinely enjoyable throughout.

Impossible not to like. Wonderful and original and always musical takes on some very old tunes. Top marks can't wait to play it daily next Xmas.

Perfect album to listen to at Christmas.

I don't really even like Christmas music, but when Oscar plays it, it becomes something else. I also love how this is an Oscar Peterson album, but Oscar (like always) shares the solos with his band mates. Great Album
