Works as expected so far a solid door doorbell
Just got the eufy Security Video Doorbell E340 installed, and so far, so good! It’s such a nice upgrade versus my old dumb doorbell. Setting it up was an easy. I was able to test my existing doorbell wiring with a multimeter, and the hardwire setup took no time at all—it immediately began trickle-charging the unit without any hassle. The dual-camera view is fantastic, giving me a clear view down the walkway as well as right at the doorstep for packages. Pairing it with my eufy HomeBase was seamless, and the connection signal has been rock solid. It’s only been hooked up for a short time, but initial impressions are top-notch. Everything works exactly as advertised right out of the box.

It is a 'eufy'!
'eufy' Video Doorbell E340 (Battery Powered) – Model: T8214 'eufy' MiniBase Chime – Model: T8023 (Security Video Doorbell E340 Add-On Indoor Chime) Anker Innovations Co., Ltd., commonly known as 'Anker', is a Chinese electronics manufacturer based in Changsha, Hunan, China. It was founded in 2011 and maintains subsidiaries in Japan, Singapore, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Anker is the owner of the 'eufy' brand name (with a small 'e'), that debuted in 2016, primarily known for its RoboVac robotic vacuums. 'eufy' launched its home security products in 2018 and the brand is now well known for its wide range of security products and services. Like its parent Anker brand, 'eufy' cuts out the middleman, selling via Amazon and directly from its own website. With all the TV commercials about security video doorbell cameras, I decided I wanted one. Before purchasing, I went to Best Buy so I could inspect the different video doorbell cameras — Ring, Nest, Arlo, Blink, 'eufy', and others — because I did not want to rely on just what I saw on television or internet video or read about. I chose 'eufy' primarily because of my perception of the quality of the device in comparison to the others and also because of its battery option and freedom from subscription. I chose to buy on Amazon because its service and pricing are excellent and beyond compare, which is why I am an Amazon Prime subscriber. I purchased the bundled 'eufy' Security Video Doorbell E340 – Model: T8214' and the 'eufy' MiniBase Chime – Model: T8023' (Security Video Doorbell E340 Add-On Indoor Chime). The 'eufy' Security Video Doorbell E340 is dual enabled to be either Wired or Battery Powered, your choice: Choose battery mode for easy installation or choose wired mode to eliminate charging altogether. I chose the battery setup. Although it comes with a quick-release battery pack, a backup battery is available as a separate purchase, and recommended as a spare for quick swaps to avoid downtime due to charging. In my opinion, on inspecting the 'eufy' Video Doorbell E340, the look of the design and the feel of its construction indicate that it is evidently manufactured with high-quality materials and components; the device has a substantial feel. The manufacturing assembly is flawless. Holding the devices, I felt the other manufacturer's builds were more plastic and less substantial. About the technology, I relied on what I read. Also, I read reviews about the difference in the various manufacturers employment of camera technology. It is a matter of debatable science, but I chose to believe 'eufy's' technology is excellent. As for privacy, I am not concerned about Anker 'eufy' being a Chinese manufacturer or that their devices might spy on me. I am pleased with the Anker 'eufy' Security product. After installing the 'eufy' App (Version v4.8.2_2005 Updated Mar 8, 2024) on my Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra smartphone (running One UI 6 Android 14), the 'eufy' App presents a QR code to be scanned by the 'eufy' Video Doorbell E340 camera to pair the camera to my Wi-Fi router. I had some difficulty in pairing my 'eufy' Battery-powered Video Doorbell E340 to my Netgear Nighthawk gigabit Wi-Fi Cable Modem Router because I did not know that the 'eufy' doorbell E340 cannot connect directly to a Wi-Fi network. A HomeBase is required, and it must be setup and paired before pairing the doorbell. I purchased the 'eufy' MiniBase Chime add-on for the E340 doorbell and still needed assistance in pairing the devices with my Wi-Fi. Telephoning customer support was immediately rewarding, with a real live intelligent person. Routers typically broadcast Wi-Fi networks in both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. In order to set up your 'eufy' Security devices successfully, be sure you select the SSID that indicates it is a 2.4 GHz network. Your smartphone has a setting to enable you to see the Wi-Fi frequency. If your router has the same Wi-Fi network name for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi bands, your 'eufy' Security device will automatically connect to the 2.4GHz band. Pairing the MiniBase and the Video Doorbell isn't so straight forward. For this I needed personal instruction. I'm not technologically astute. My experience with Anker – 'eufy' Customer Support was excellent. The Customer Support Team was professional and conscientious. Well-trained and knowledgeable, they diligently devoted all the time needed on the phone, patiently, caringly and courteously talking me through the connection procedure. I first paired the MiniBase Chime to my Netgear Nighthawk Wi-Fi Router's 2.4 GHz frequency using the 'eufy' App. My Wi-Fi router confirmed its 2.4 GHz connection to the 'eufy' App, and the 'eufy' App confirmed its connection to the MiniBase Chime. Then I paired the 'eufy' Video Doorbell E340 with my Wi-Fi router through the 'eufy' App by using the video doorbell camera to scan the QR code produced by the 'eufy' App. This didn't go as expected. It didn't pair with my router, it paired with the MiniBase Chime. The 'eufy' App chain of connection first connects the base to the Wi-Fi and then the doorbell to the base. The doorbell doesn't appear in my router's list of connected devices; the router only shows that the base is connected. However, the doorbell functions as it should. I get a live feed video on my 'eufy' App. The vision on the App is very clear. When the doorbell button is pressed, the MiniBase Chime rings; so does my phone. I can talk and hear through the App. The connection procedure progressed as it should. Order and method are essential. The connection procedure progressed perfectly, thanks to the technical expertise of the 'eufy' support engineers talking me through each step. 'eufy' Security Customer Support was admirably and commendably tireless. Their dedication was resolute. They did not give up, and were extremely patient with my lack of technical knowledge. I could not be more pleased. My Anker 'eufy' Security Video Doorbell is a prestigious addition to the technology in my home. It works, and it is awesome!

After 3 months, would buy again- GREAT cameras + alerts, OK battery life
I bought the eufy E340 doorbell a few months ago for a new house. It mounted very easily, the angle works great. I did have to drill, but there are kits you can get that use stick-on tape. I bought some extra angled shims in case I needed to get a better angle, but I didn't need them. My install is wireless since the old doorbell was also wireless, there isn't a power wire. I'm using the Amazon Echo Show as the chime, it works great; if you don't have the Echo set to fairly loud and/or in a spot where you can hear it, this might not work for you. However, it was super easy- once the doorbell was connected in the Eufy app on my phone, the Alexa app automatically saw it. Then you could just set it in the app to use the Echo Show as the chime. So: ==== VIDEO- the video from both cameras is SUPER clear, especially compared to many other security/doorbell cameras. Let me say, even though it isn't perfect, the night video is FAR FAR better than most other cameras I've tried. At night it has a fairly short range of clear vision, no more than 10 feet or so. Beyond that you can see that there's a person, but the face isn't clear. Still- much better than most cameras. ==== ALERTS- these have been great. By default, it alerts if there is a person in range, and if a package has been either delivered or picked up- it can tell the difference. The alert timing isn't perfect, several times the person would be on the front steps before the alert arrived. But it hasn't been a problem, most of the time as I'm leaving the house, when I step off the porch the alert goes off on my phone. ==== 2-WAY TALK: this has worked great. The person outside can hear me, and they are clear enough for me to hear them. ==== WIFI: I have both 2.4 and 5ghz, the doorbell connected to the 2.4 without issue and hasn't dropped off once. The router is downstairs one floor but there has been no problem with the Wifi. ==== APP: this has also been great. It can access the video live, or play saved clips, there's an Events tab showing when something was detected. ==== BATTERY: This is the one area that I think could be improved on. It does have a pretty large battery in it, but I can't get more than 2 months battery life. They claim 4 months in the user guide, but even with very little use (I check it once a day if I haven't had any alerts) it has not lasted very long. They do sell extra batteries so you can easily swap in a new one, but the hassle of taking the doorbell down & replacing it is just a pain. However, everything else about this doorbell makes it worth it, so a little pain once every 2 months is not a bad tradeoff. ==== MOTION SENSING: Works great, better than almost all other cameras I've tried (which is a lot). I've had one time (in 3 months) where it alerted and saved video, but I couldn't see anything moving. It was at night, so I'm chalking that up to a moth or similar. Other than that, it has not failed to detect a person coming up to the porch- day or night, and it also can tell when they drop off or pick up a package. The motion detection is so good you can really rely on it. You can set the area to restrict motion detection, so dog walkers, moving bushes, animals or trees won't trigger it. ==== CONCLUSION: This isn't the cheapest video doorbell, but for what you get I think it's worth the price. Since I set it up I have not had to do anything with it, it has stayed connected to Wifi, it has stored all the video, the alerts have worked great, the motion detection is superior, app is great, the sound is great, etc etc. So far this is the best one I've found. You really don't have to worry about it except for the battery. Yes, I would buy it again.

Clumsy app, need for expensive add-on chime, does not work well as a doorbell
I bought an E340 after our doorbell wiring failed, and it would have been too expensive to pull new wire. A wireless doorbell was the obvious solution, and I wanted to experiment with a video doorbell. I cannot recommend the E340 based on my experience. A first piece of good news: installing the E340 was a snap: just put in two screws to hold up the mounting plate, charge the battery, and snap it in. The first piece of bad news is that the E340 does not function as a doorbell without an expensive peripheral. There's no wireless dongle that one can use to activate an existing wired chime, and so without buying a $40 add-on chime, you have a bell that you cannot hear in the house. It's no consolation that there's a bell in the E340 since that bell is outdoors. The next piece of bad news is that the Eufy phone app is a hot mess. Start with the fact that the home screen is optimized such that the 2 easy to press buttons are for ads from Eufy and "messages." But those are not messages from your doorbell: they are messages from Eufy. Yes, ads, again. It is very fussy to drill into this app to configure the settings of your doorbell, and the app does NOT walk you through doorbell configuration on first connection. So, for example, one will find what looks like crazy events. Why is that? Because they are tagged with times in the Beijing Time Zone. Either get the local TZ from the phone, or walk us through a configuration process to get it set right! These are just examples: the whole app is a hot mess. Probably the worst problem is that it is very laggy in reporting door bell rings. By the time I get notifications that my doorbell has rung, visitors have given up and gone on their way. The one thing a doorbell *must* do is instantly report rings. I'm not sure what causes the lag here, but it's unacceptable. This is probably related to the doorbell-wifi connection being unreliable. I can say from experience that there's nothing more frustrating than looking at someone at my door, trying to talk to them through the speaker, only to get a pop-up that the doorbell cannot be reached. Our home has multiple Nest mesh network nodes: this is not a problem of insufficient bandwidth. A final note is that dealing with the manufacturer is problematic. I experienced multiple problems trying to order a chime to match the E340. The manufacturer's web site has a compatibility chart for doorbells and chimes. The E340 is not listed. I asked their chat system if a chime model was compatible, and was incorrectly told that it was. Their support pages are a mess of poor writing and it's very hard to determine whether a given page applies to a model that you actually own. Dealing with this bell has been incredibly frustrating and a huge disappointment. It should be a simpler experience, it should be sold with a chime, and above all it should come with an app that is focused on the most important task: letting you answer your door. The current app seems focused primarily on selling add on services and devices.

Good doorbell for the price and features.
Doorbell works well, good image quality and features including Delivery Guard. It's good to have the 2 cameras as well. The one thing I noticed is that the E340 battery even when wired will drain a bit and have not seen it recharge to 100% again. I confirmed my transformer is adequate based on requirements. I also had a different model where the battery stayed mostly at 100% when wired. I am trying different settings including activity zones to see if that helps.

Skip the subscriptions, get this Brand.
I'm a eufy product fan! I really like eufy products as they do exactly the same job as more expensive options without the need to pay for additional subscriptions. This camera does exactly what it is meant to do and the package alerts work as expected too. It's super easy to setup and seems pretty durable as well. Motion detection is quite good too, I've had to turn it down for being too sensitive which, is simple to do.

The best video camera I have had to date
This eufy doorbells on a whole different level compared to my previous system (from a very popular brand that shall remain unnamed, iykyk). This one is way more intuitive, easier to manage, and just feels smarter overall. Super easy for a non-tech savvy gal like me. First of all the video quality? Perf. The nighttime looks like daytime. I was not expecting it to be that clear without blasting a spotlight everywhere, but here we are. Bonus points that I can toggle on and off basically EVERYTHING woth these cameras, something my old system severely lacked on. It’s crisp and you can actually see what’s going on instead of grainy blobs. The motion detection is also much better. I’m not getting spammed every time my windchimes moves, which is such a relief. No monthly fees is the straight up cherry on top, i got SO sick of paying monthly fees on... the other brand. Local storage, expandable options, easy app control it just works. Setup was smooth, everything feels premium, and I finally feel like my home security is actually secure instead of hoping for the best. Couldn’t be happier with my experience as a whole. There is a tiny lag when opening an event but its so miniscule it does not bother me, plus it is recording the whole time so no capturing worries. It is fully compatible with my other eufy system pieces so it feels like a seamless add on.

So glad we got this!
We had a SimpliSafe doorbell & a lot of times it didn't work! My husband found this. He felt that the instruction were very good and that it was easy to hook up and very clear, and it worked quickly and easily and we didn't have to call for assistance, or anything. We both love that you don't have to pay for any service to save anything to, which save money! The security is stellar! It also has two cameras, which we really love! It picks up every single delivery & even people walking in the driveway or yard! It has a pack camera that looks at the floor of the porch, and if there's a package, a little round picture that allows you a quick but really good look at the package. It's also great that it's wired and hooks to our in-house doorbell that actually keeps the battery charged. Lighting can be left on or off because it has its own light, if needed, or as a huge added bonus, it can go infared. The videos are very clear & great and can be customized (small animals, etc). The view/detection areas can also be customized, which is great. The SimpliSafe camera used to always alert us for anyone going by on the road, but not for people who actually walked onto the porch! We love this Eufy camera! Additionally, you can watch the very clear videos on your phone or you can download them, if you want to. This Eufy Security Video Doorbell E340 is truly a professional system with top notch functionality! My husband & I both highly recommend it!

Super easy to install and very clear cams
We’ve had Eufy products before, so we got this doorbell on Prime Day. Setup was easy—everything needed was in the box. The dual cameras are great: one for visitors, one for packages. The wedge lets you angle it perfectly. The 2K quality is super clear. We hardwired it, but it can run on battery. Alexa announces visitors, so no loud doorbell startling the dogs. Within hours, it helped with one delivery we received. We’re really happy with it!

Need to Charge Battery full before connecting to HomeBase
I got it on Black Friday for less than SGD$200. The product arrived in its factory default packaging. Got it working on Tanden with the existing doorbell, which does not have the ground view Cam. Initial setup is straightforward; you need to charge the battery and 1 meter from the HomeBase.
