You will need an extremely small screwdriver to remove the red top and insert the batteries there. It was an exhausting search to find this location.

It’s a miniature train, tracks snap together, train cars can only go in one order as their attachment system is set up that way. No directions came with it. You have to open the top of the train to get to battery compartment. You’ll need a long, skinny screw driver which was not included (my husband figured all this out after opening the bottom of the train). My husband set it up around our tree on the tree skirt, once the train was set on the tracks properly it ran fine, there is an on/off switch. The tracks fit around the base of our tree just fine, but the train is just too small to look nice under a tree (my personal opinion). Train was around $15, and this is a fine train for that amount. I would think this would be a good toy for a child to play with. Needs to have directions on how to get to the battery compartment, needs to come with a little screw driver to be able to access the battery compartment.

Cute mini train. Takes batteries. And your own screw driver. But it's so cute and functional under small trees or displays.

I guess you get what you pay for. Seems very small a cheap.

The product seems to be very well made. The train was perfect to setup around the bottom of our Christmas tree, like you see in old movies. The tracks assembled with ease. Add the train set to the tracks and let it go. The grandkids really got a kick out of seeing it going around the tree. Overall I would definitely recommend this as a great gift idea for any kid thats interested in trains as a starter set. Or use it like we did as an added decoration to our tree. The lights and sounds really set off the experinence for the kids.

This is a nice train toy that’s fairly small.The train uses AA batteries which is nice since I can load my own rechargeable batteries. The downside is you may need to load and unload batteries frequently if you keep the train running.The train is small but has a classic appearance and it’s cute. The track, however, feels flimsy. They don’t provide a sturdy track for the train and it’s easy for the train to get stuck.Overall I think the train set is good as a decoration or occasionally movement but may not be sturdy enough for kids to play with often.
