This means the product you receive will be of the highest quality. Caring for your cow hide: Cowhide Rugs are very tough and will last a long time if you look after it and care for it properly. Treat your cowhide like most rugs and carpets. Simply vacuum or give your rug a shake outside to remove dust and small particles - don't use powered heads or rotating brushes on them. If your rug is in a high use area do move it from time to time to ensure that it wears evenly. As with any rug or carpet, clean any spills that occur on the rug as soon as possible to avoid staining. Fresh spills are much easier to remove than dried-in stains. If you need to spot-clean the rug, wipe it with a damp (not soaking) soapy cloth in the direction of the hair. Dry with a towel, again in the direction of the hair. Do not rub vigorously or use leather creams, polishes or saddle soaps. At most use a very small amount of mild soap when you clean the spill. Lastly do not place your cow hide rug in the washing machine or on the radiator. When you receive your rug: Each rug is folded and boxed individually. Once you lay it out it will have a few creases from the folding. This is perfectly natural. The hide will need a little time to stretch out, relax and work out the creases. The creases should come out therefore after a few days laying flat. A heavy weight, like books, can help to speed up this process. You can also steam iron the hide on the underside or hairy side (place a slightly damp towel in between the iron and hide as you would a delicate article of clothing) to reduce the creases more quickly. The iron should be set on a normal cotton setting. To stop your rug from slipping and sliding you can use carpet tape (or other strong double sided tape) or Velcro spots on the edges.
