Its different then the ones i have had b4...the entire end opens up which is real nice.it has a fold over end with a slide on clip to tightly seal it...it hasnt leaked yet.the rubber is thick and had no taste..i bought it for the insulating sleeve...and thats why only 4 stars...thermal sleeve is made of thin but solid material. Its some what flexable but its big and almost didnt fit inside the pouch on my back pack...there was no condensation from bag thru back pack and extended the cool water time..my other pack didnt have the insulating sleeve and ice cold water was warm within about 2 hours..this 1 stayed cool the entire day of use..i filled half way with ice and topped off with water. I would reorder if i some how mess this 1 up

PROS:*Thicker then original bladder that came with fly backpack.*Black bladder and dark tube. Prevents bacterial to grow and keeps water cooler keeping it dark.*Very good open seal from the top. Slide/lock mechanism. Can be kinda hard to open or close, but you are sure its closed when it is.*Tube quick disconnect*Disconnected tube will not let water come out of the bladder because there is a valve that stays closed unless tube is inserted. This is the best feature yet.*Because of the valve in the bladder inside quick release tube connector, you dont have to pull the tube out with it for a refill or maintenance.CONS:None.

Comes with a cleaning kit and a outer insulation pouch that will keep your fluids cool and keep the bag protected from possible punctures. The bladder is made with a thin and flimsy plastic. Wasn't too happy with the connection between the bladder and drinking hose. I'm concerned may break someday.But.... It's a more than fair price for it. It's worked fine so far.I look at it like this.... Even if the bladder breaks someday, I still have an insulation pouch and a pretty decent cleaning kit for under 20 bucks which I can use with my replacement bladder if I need to purchase one.But so far so good. The system is working above innitial expectations.Good luck with your purchase.

I used this hydration bladder on a hiking trip to the desert. It held the water and kept it cool. However, when I took the hose apart to clean it, I found out that the bite valve is made of soft rubber and will not go back on the hose! Once you take it off to clean it, that's it. It will never go back on again. I tried forcing it, but it's such soft rubber that it won't go back on. And, the bite valve rubber piece sits inside the bite valve cover, which makes it impossible to reinstall it. I could probably get the bite valve itself back on, but the cover will never go back on since it won't fit over the bite valve! Not sure if this is just a bad design or if you are not meant to take it apart to clean it. With all others I have owned, you can take them apart to clean the hose and bite valve.

EDIT: DO NOT BUY!! It’s impossible to open and close and painful to clean!! Please do not waste your money.Definitely doesn’t come like some of the pictures show. It doesn’t come with an unscrew opening. Also the opening is very very hard to undo. The cool bag doesn’t have a hole for the tube. Other then that it’s okay. I’d definitely just find a different one though. Especially if you are using this because you you are disabled like me.

Great value, all elements of the hydration system and the maintenance kit are of good quality and delivered at a very reasonable price. I bought this specifically to mount on seat back of a recumbent trike. After two 5 mile test rides, I have no complaints. At first I was disappointed that there was not a retention loop for the bladder on the inside of the reservoir sleeve but it turns out that the sleeve is sized such that the bladder is well supported and does not slump in the sleeve. The dust cover for the bite value is very lightly retained by a click groove and would very likely come loose in a back packing application, however this is an easy to replace item if it is really a problem. The versatility of not having a dedicated pack is a big plus, I can take and mount this sleeve for a broad variety of applications without requiring a lot of space.

This hydration pack is worth every penny! I am so happy I read the reviews, did my research and chose to buy THIS product. This item really does the job! I have been on a few 6 mile hikes since buying it and the product really delivers! The bladder keeps my water freezing cold (with ice) in the insulated pack, the bite piece works great as water flows freely and the bladder is easy to fill with water and the top folding closure is wonderful. The pack hasn’t leaked! One thing to note: when you want the water to come out of the bite piece make sure to pull the entire piece UP and THEN turn it following the arrow otherwise the water doesn’t come out easily or really at all! It would be nice to have instructions about the bite piece which would have saved me some frustration of figuring it out. Only other suggestion for this product would be to have a hole on the top of the insulation pack so the hose and bite piece goes straight through so it’s easily accessible. This is a solid system. Everything breaks down for very easy cleaning. The cleaning kit is perfect for the system. The insulation bag is solid and keeps the water cold extremely well and keeps the condensation out of the backpack I carry it in ( Vertx Gambit Gen 2, which it works perfectly with). My only complaints are minor. I would like a larger diameter hose, and I prefer a bite valve similar to the Blackhawk! branded ones, with a solid internal valve instead of the soft rubber one on this.Long story short, I like this. It has everything it needs. Solid product.
